Faced with a public health crisis spiraling further out of control as a result of his own governing failures, a maskless President Donald Trump ranted against the “left-wing mob,” “far-left fascism” and “cancel culture” in a disjointed speech delivered at an Independence Day celebration held at Mount Rushmore National Memorial on Friday night.
“Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to defame our history,” Trump told a cheering crowd, most of whom also appeared to not be wearing masks.
“Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders ... and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities,” he added.
Trump was referring to protesters who, as part of a national uprising for racial justice, have defaced and removed Confederate monuments and symbols.
He vowed to crack down on “this attack on our liberty” by enforcing a federal law to “arrest the rioters,” reiterating his earlier promise to imprison anyone who vandalizes such monuments for up to 10 years.
“There is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance,” he said. “This left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American revolution.”
Yet, facial coverings, which can help mitigate the spread of the disease were a rare sight at the event. None of Trump’s entourage, including First Lady Melania Trump and his son Eric Trump, were seen wearing a mask.
Earlier on Friday, dozens of protesters, most of them Native Americans, blocked a main road leading to Mount Rushmore. About 15 of them were arrested after refusing to heed police warnings to disperse.
Demonstrators, holding signs that read “This Is Stolen Land” and “Protect SoDak’s First People,” said they were insulted by Trump’s decision to hold the celebratory event at the massive sculpture, which was erected in the Black Hills on land taken from the Lakota people.

Many of them don’t wear masks correctly, which is as bad if not worse, than not wearing one.
Leftist writers know that their audience will believe them, and so they are free to make up anything they want. Truth doesn’t matter to these people.
Other than this ridiculously biased hit piece, I haven’t seen much reporting at all on the president’s remarks as I scan the web today.
The speech is, for the most part, being ignored.
That’s a pretty good indication that the MSM knows he hit a home run.
Cancel culture is a new expression to me. I hope it catches on. The left wants a cancel culture. Think Mao’s cultural revolution.

My paternal forebears came from Switzerland; Landed in Philadelphia in Nov. 1750. Germanic people, they swore allegiance to King George. Received Warrant Rights to 50 acres of land in York Twp., York County, PA. They had to build on the land, and work the land for a specified period, and it was theirs. Gramps was a farmer, keeping cows and raising chickens. He ran a little lefthanded dairy, selling milk, butter and eggs.
All this equivalence of “dark” and “bad” is clearly racist on those writers parts! :)
This article was posted or a similar one at Yahoo and the approx 12,000 comments were essentially 99.8% FOR the President and praising the speech.
Sorry HuffPo, you and the other leftist propagandists have the monopoly on pushing racial division. Our president was pushing a positive message about our country. Your efforts to convince minorities not to see themselves as part of the country is what is actually divisive.
Leftists aren’t used to anyone calling out the truth about their side and standing up for the little Americans they always trash. It makes it harder for them to trick voters about what they are actually doing. It’s easier for them to manipulate people when they have total control over the narrative.
He’s willing to stand up against the race hustlers’ heavily distorted, anti-American views. To the propagandists, it’s “racism” not to kneel to the radicals who hate our nation. They want everyone to think they have to submit without questioning anything or resisting, like a lot of corporations have already done.
At least the propagandists aren’t hiding anymore that they are the enemies of America. We are watching them right now try to equate pro-Americanism with “racism.”
