The reason that the statues remained in place for so long is that Richmond marketed itself as a destination for Civil War history buffs to visit as tourists.

Remember, the first monuments removed by the Marxists were religious. Confederate monuments are the second class of monuments they are having removed.
So, instead of letting the howling rabid mob tear down the statues, we have mayors odering the statues torn down by crews paid for by the taxpayers. We know who the mayors and governors are working for and who they spit on.
They going to take the one down at Virginia Military Tech? What about the museum they have there that features General Lee’s horse Traveler? The horse is white, so it must be racist too.
Is Lee next? Or are there still lawsuits?
I drove past Richmond on the freeway on a couple of occasions. I wish I had stopped to see the monuments before they were removed, something I never dreamed would have happened in America.
I agree with this but want these statues in museums.
