A massive statue of Confederate Gen. Stonewall Jackson was removed from a park in Richmond, Virginia, Wednesday.
The sculpture depicting Jackson on horseback was taken down by work crews just hours after Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney ordered all Confederate statues be removed from city land.
Stoney said the decree in the onetime capital of the Confederacy is long overdue.
Those statues stood high for over 100 years for a reason, and it was to intimidate and to show black and brown people in this city who was in charge, the mayor said.
I think the healing can now begin in the city of Richmond.

He claimed emergency powers "to speed up the healing process for the former capital of the Confederacy amid weeks of protests over police brutality and racial injustice."
When will the media start analyzing a significant root of the problems, the breakdown of the family and the absence of fathers in the family? Why cant we subsidize stable, two parent families and not subsidize single parent families?
The Richmond statues are to be placed in a warehouse until a proper place is determined.
Boulevard has been renamed for that great American hero, Arthur Ashe. Why not rename Monument Avenue for the statue that will probably be the only one remaining on the street, Arthur Ashe. In fact, lets rename the city for that great American hero. Otherwise, the city is a reminder of southern oppression.
BTW, MLK would have said ALL LIVES MATTER, he too will be toppled...
They’ll never be put in museums. Do you think that BLM will allow a statue of Jackson or any other Confederate to be put in a museum? I’m surprised they already haven’t burned down the White House of the Confederacy in Richmond.
I’m done. I don’t care who it offends or the optics or anything else. We cannot yield one more inch to these people. No more compromise and no more “healing.” We’ve been telling you for decades that after they came for the statues of those men so many blithely call “traitors,” they’d come for yours next. And here we are. Not even the Sainted Abraham Lincoln is safe.
By failing to defend statues and monuments to the Confederacy and to people like Jackson and Davis, the door has been opened for the deletion of any piece of history the mob does not like. And it shows that the history and heritage of those of us who are proud of where we came from in the South—warts and all—mean nothing to our alleged elected officials. We must remember that.

Good point.
So we will dig up confederate soldiers buried at Arlington, and bury statues of non-persons. What a country, yet Republicans say nothing, the grass roots really do nothing either. Look around, people are afraid to fly the flag for Independence day.
I am with you, I will use all means necessary to defend any monument in my 20 mile radius.
There was a protest at a sign on private property that has stood for 55 years or more. An Uncle Sam sign where actual Conservative words are placed on I-5. Aunt Teefa was rumored to be coming for it. At the counter protest were many AR-15’s in private hands, but more importantly was the Sheriff had 4 snipers with spotters in camo set up “just in case”. Aunt Teefa stayed away. Of course few saw the sniping positions, but I watched them come down when the area was secured. It made me proud to know a law official was an American first, politician second.
I really hope they can and do sue. Jacksons life is truly a remarkable story. It is a sad state of affairs when Virginia history is being trashed. Im guessing hes going to be pulled from Manassas Battlefield and VMI- perhaps the whole battlefield needs to crashed. I wonder if they will remove the army of Northern Virginia memorial at Gettysburg next...
Anyone know if there is a schedule of when and which statues these mobs and their enablers in the government are having removed?
The flag fly’s daily in our neighborhood.
