The Boston Arts Commission voted unanimously Tuesday night to remove a public monument depicting President Abraham Lincoln standing before a freed slave.
The Emancipation Memorial in Park Square a replica of the original standing in Washington, D.C. will be taken down with an art conservator to document, recommend how the bronze statue is removed, supervise its removal and placement into temporary storage, the motion reads.
As we continue our work to make Boston a more equitable and just city, its important that we look at the stories being told by the public art in all our neighborhoods, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, who supported the statues removal, said in a statement.

Boston Arts Commission is like saying “progressive”. Both mean nothing.
To: knighthawk; All
the Boston Arts Commission has earned itself a special place in the Hall of Heritage Shame. The people pushing this action from behind the curtain of anonymity are activating their stooges to accomplish another small step in the campaign to physically destroy our common historical heritage and replace it with a neo-Marxian narrative of American vileness, cruelty and exploitation.
On this forum I have frequently posted that the campaign to expunge all public references to the Confederacy had much deeper goals than removing physical memorials which are supposed to be politically incorrect and disrespectful towards blacks. The demands to remove the Emancipation Statue in Washington DC and Boston and the Lincoln statue in Madison, Wisconsin is the next wave in the studied conspiracy to destroy our common understanding of our history and replace it with an Orwellian manipulable past. The attacks on statues of Fr. and Columbus are a clear indication that the totality of the American heritage is up for grabs. These actions are indications of a profound surreptitious campaign funded by very wealthy globalists and conducted by a large army of PC footsoldiers. This is serious business people. It is time to stop the infighting over the WBTS/Civil War and close ranks and confront these common enemies of our country and history.

If we’re going to start removing art because it might offend someone, then we won’t have any art left. Oh wait... silly me. Like so much, this is a strictly one-way street.

Your post is well worth a read. Every word you say is true.

So taking down the statue makes the city more “equitable?” Are you serious?

Ive said almost from the beginning, this isnt about just a few Confederate generals.
I was proven correct almost immediately. The defacing of the monument to the 54th Massachusetts and the toppling of the statue of abolitionist Union Col Hans Christian Heg should be enough to awaken anyone with a clue.
