You might like 22LR. Good firearm for small gals like us.

Maybe you could try a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun...

(Then, if you practice a lot, and become a real sharpshooter, you can shoot their eye out.)        :-)

Actually, a BB gun allows you to practice in the basement when it’s not practical or possible to go to the range with a rifle.

Don’t have a basement. But thanks for the (questionable) advice :-)

It’s not “questionable”. When they were young, I taught my kids proper gun safety and aiming with a BB gun shooting into a a bank of newspapers.

You can learn proper sight alignment and breathing shooting a BB gun.

No, "Jamestown1630", I was just trying to give you a smile.   :-)    I understand exactly what you're talking about, but I'll let people with a lot more knowledge than me give you real advice (like Post #61).

I hope you find a good, safe fit for you!

Take care.

I’ll keep that in mind. If I can find a ‘bank’ of newspapers, I’ll pile them up in my extra bathroom.

(I’ve had to pay for pounds of blank newsprint lately, to line my birdcages; my favorite free source of newspapers stopped publishing recently, and went online. Pretty soon, there will be no newspapers, and we’ll have to go to hay bales - as we did in archery class.)

Ok; long as I don’t shoot my eye out.

IF you can find a BALE OF COTTON, that will reliably STOP anything up to .38spl wadcutters & it’s LIKELY OK up to .45ACP “target loads” if backed with 4 thicknesses of 3/4” 4x8 foot sheets of plywood.
(So far, the plywood has not been hit.)

I long ago lost count of the hundreds of 145 grain HB .38spl wadcutters that we shot at targets backed by the cotton bale from 3 to 25 yards.

I’ll take your word; but that seems like an awful waste of good cotton.

(Thanks to everyone for successfully distracting me from my toothache until the meds kicked-in :-)

G’Nite!

A BB gun is great for training. Even if you don’t have a basement. A shopping bag or box full of newspaper, cardboard, etc. to shoot at.

My kids all learned that way.

My son was getting some shotgun shooting lessons. The instructor asked my younger daughter if she wanted to try. He commended her on her finger and muzzle control.

He gave her some easy clay pigeons to hit. She had never shot a shotgun before - she got 8 our of 10! The instructor gave her free instruction for a couple of years! (My son never got the hang of a shotgun, but shoots rifles and pistols very well).

My husband’s shotgun would knock me over. I want a little rifle.

Fyi, I was given the bale for FREE as it had gotten wet & therefore was considered to be ‘unsaleable’.

It’s worked well as a backstop for 30+ years, so I don’t see it as a waste.

Balless, I represent those who need a voice, my black clients called me at 2 am in support. Puts his tail between his legs and weeps for forgiveness and compassionate from the animals. sickening. He had the stage, come on my property and I will use whatever means to protect it, try me. This would have garnered more respect. This will continue until we get serious and push back hard. Soros appointed AG’s willing to prosecute you for protecting your family is a reason
