When the authorities suggested that two black men whose bodies were found hanging from trees in two Southern California cities had died by suicide, many community activists did not buy it.
Their fear: The men had been lynched.
But family members of 38-year-old Malcolm Harsch, one of the two men, said through a spokesman that after reviewing video footage provided by the police, they were now convinced that he died by suicide. Mr. Harsch was found on May 31 in Victorville, Calif., near a homeless encampment where he was living.
Family members of 24-year-old Robert Fuller, the other man whose body was found hanging, are still waiting for the results of an investigation into his death, which occurred in Palmdale this month.
After initially saying there was no sign of foul play in either case, the local authorities, responding to pleas from community activists, promised full investigations into the deaths of both men, a reaction in part to the protests in California and across the country against police brutality and racism. The F.B.I. is also monitoring the inquiries.
Najee Ali, the spokesman for the Harsch family and a community activist based in Los Angeles who led protests after the deaths of Mr. Fuller and Mr. Harsch, said on Saturday that Mr. Harschs family had wanted a full investigation into what happened, particularly given Southern Californias well-documented presence of white supremacist groups.
Due to the fact that he was an African-American homeless man with no family initially, his life and investigation were devalued and put on the back burner, he said of the police, which he said only took action to investigate Mr. Harschs death after news reports and demonstrations.

Meanwhile a White person is murdered every 12 hours by a black and all we hear are crickets.
Prayers for the Families but why didn’t they do something for him while he was a live.
There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then turn around and see somebody white and feel relieved.
Jesse Jackson
Families do try often to no avail. They refuse help, housing, medication, mental health services. Sometimes you just have to give up and let their life take the path they have chosen for themselves.
It is small, but the pretzel logic used by the left to hide that fact is evident nearly anywhere you look. I will see if I can download the FBI UCR data and crunch the numbers myself.
A complicating factor is that the national statistics lump Caucasians and Hispanics into “White” which likely will make the numbers look less lopsided.
I feel sorry for the family...Some people were acting as if he were killed by some white racist...Not very responsible...There is nothing wrong with asking for a thorough investigation... Just don’t bring up racism for no good reason...
So this activist attorney is still trying to blame the police while conceding it's suicide? If Harsch killed himself, he couldn't have valued his own life very much. Maybe if his beloved family had been around when he needed them instead of waiting until after he killed himself to blame someone else, he would've felt more valuable.
Self-lynching
1. Maybe he made choices that put him in the homeless camp. At least he knew where that was.
2. Maybe his family had tried to help him over the years but never got through to him.
3. Maybe he made bad choices regarding drugs and alcohol.
4. Maybe his medical history shows something wrong with his mind and body.
5. Maybe if we heard ALL the story or PART of his story there might be answers there.

The media tell us EXACTLY what they want us to know.
They tell us how much they want us to know.
and they leave out germane information that would tell us WHY this happened.
See post # 5.
Imagine some white guy saying the same thing.
Life ruined.
You well know that, no matter what, it’s still Trump’s fault.
Yes prayers. I dont think you realize how unreachable and self destructive some people are. We are in a situation with a young person throwing great opportunities away and being otherwise self destructive. It is hard to reach them or affect that trajectory. Its a sad situation.
I’m glad nd thankful they’re honest people.
I am loath to say it, but I think it must be said. There are mentally disturbed Black Americans who are willing to pull suicidal Jussie Smollets.
Najee Ali should be disbarred for unprofessional conduct. If he relied on notoriously unreliable “news reports and demonstrations”, then he is, as we said about John Kerry, “Unfit for Command (or being a member of the Bar)”.
Unprofessional ethics charges should be lodged against him immediately and his law license suspended until his hearing before the state’s Bar Association or Business Licensing Bureau (or whatever it is call in California).
So it looks like Al Sharpton trying to stir up another Tawana Brawley type riot.
