Hi BOSTON (CBS) – Six former eBay executives and employees are facing federal charges after they allegedly led a cyberstalking campaign against a Natick couple they believed was critical of the company in an online ecommerce newsletter.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling said the eBay employees’ harassment included sending the couple “disturbing deliveries” that included a bloody pig mask, a box of live cockroaches, and a funeral wreath. The employees also allegedly sent anonymous threatening messages and traveled to Massachusetts to conduct “covert surveillance” of the victims.
“It was a determined, systematic effort of senior employees of a major company to destroy the lives of a couple in Natick, all because they published content company executives didn’t like,” said Lelling.

If they were eBay employees at the time, the couple will own eBay by the time it’s over.
“These deliveries included fly larvae and live spiders, a box of live cockroaches, a sympathy wreath on the occasion of the death of a loved one, a book of advice on how to survive the death of a spouse, pornography mailed to their next door neighbors but in the couple’s names, Halloween masks featuring the face of the bloody pig, and the pig fetus which was ordered, but after an inquiry by the supplier, thankfully, wasn’t ever sent,” Lelling said.
I used to do a lot of buying and selling on ebay. One day it finally hit me that the one really making money was ebay.
I guess if I list for sale a box of cockroaches on ebay its OK now. I’ve been waiting for this.

How “odd” that none of the complaints against corporate giant ebay are given voice in this piece. Considering the lengths at which these cyberterrorists went to attack the publishers of the criticisms, I’d say that that they were over the target in identifying ebay as being complicit in some kind of bad business deals.

“Former eBay director of global resiliency David Harville, 48, of New York City, was arrested Monday on the same charges.
“Also charged were Stephanie Popp, 32, of San Jose; Stephanie Stockwell, 26, of Redwood City, Calif.; Veronica Zeak, 26, of San Jose; and Brian Gilbert, 51, of San Jose. Each is charged with conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and conspiracy to tamper with witnesses.
“Popp was eBay’s senior manager of global intelligence, Stockwell was the company’s manager of global intelligence center (GIC), Zea was a contractor who worked as an intelligence analyst within the GIC, and Gilbert was a senior manager of special operations for eBay’s global security team.
“Gilbert is also a former police captain.”
This is why if I’m disappointed in goods or services from a company, I just quit using them or going there. Going to the trouble of writing a negative review is just a waste of my time. They’re not paying me to run their company.
I left eBay after 17 years buying and selling on it because it did nothing when a buyer sent me used beat up items instead of the new item I had paid for, despite their “guarantee” of buyer protection. I also bought some live plants and what I was sent was half-dead plants, with no offer to replace them by the seller unless I paid for shipping. Fuhgeddaboutit! I wasn’t sending good money after bad. I figured out that eBay deletes a lot of the negative comments buyers leave in order to have good ratings for sellers. And, they particularly protect their “super-sellers”, deleting virtually all negative ratings so they can earn more from more sales. eBay is a very dishonest company defrauding the public, with no seeming penalties from the government. What these employees did to that couple is horrific and they should be cooling their evil heels in prison for a L-O-N-G time.
Only a matter of time before Amazon.com buys eBay.

Good luck contacting eBay at their “customer service” number. All you get is a lame recording supposedly due to the “Covid crisis”. (How many hundreds of $Millions in profit did they make last year?). Was able to “chat” online with an eBay rep but she did not have the authority to resolve my issue.
And try to report a counterfeit (translation: chinese) item. If your concern doesn’t fit into one of their pre-selected categories you are SOL.

On August 18 just after midnight, the eBay employees allegedly posted a classified ad on Craigslist claiming to be from the Natick couple inviting “singles, couples and swingers” to their house to part after 10 p.m. every night.
“People were encouraged to knock on the couple’s door, anytime day or night,” said Lelling.
