A second stimulus check? Here's how much you could get
CBS News ^ | June 11, 2020 | Aimee Picchi

By now, most Americans have received the federal stimulus checks directed by the CARES Act in March to help consumers weather the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Three months later, the downturn has been declared an official recession and the official unemployment rate has soared into double digits, heightening calls for a second round of stimulus checks.

There's good news and bad news on the prospects for additional government assistance. The proposed $3 trillion Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions, or HEROES, Act would authorize another round of stimulus payments for most U.S. households. While the bill was passed by the Democrat-controlled House last month, it still must get through the Republican-controlled Senate.

Yet there are signs the White House may get behind additional stimulus funding, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that the administration is working on its own plan. During a press conference last week to discuss unemployment, President Donald Trump said his administration will be "asking for additional stimulus money," while his economic adviser Kevin Hassett told the Journal this week that the odds of another stimulus package "are very, very high."

Too much blah, blah, blah at the beginning which moved the money section past the excerpt.

The HEROES Act offers a larger stimulus payment than the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. Under the new legislation each member of a household would receive $1,200, including children. The income thresholds would remain the same, meaning that single taxpayers earning less than $75,000 and married taxpayers earning a total of $150,000 would receive the full payments. For instance, a family of four whose parents earn less than $150,000 would receive $4,800.

HEROES would cap total payments at $6,000 per family.

So the same $1200 per adult, $1200 per child instead of $500, and a cap for large families. Same income limits as before.

My attitude—this is _my_ reparations check for all the anti-white discrimination in education and employment I have faced throughout my life.

Keep ‘em coming, DC....

I want my free money for this simple reason: We’re all gonna have to pay it back. So If I’m going to have to pay back a loan, it softens the blow if I actually GET the money I’m paying back.

~~~
That’s how I feel.
Although, the way our politicians kick debt down the road, I think it will be your children who pay it back.
With as much crap that’s happening now that seems so imminent and portending of darker futures, I still believe that nothing doomed our future than the mid-90s contract with america folks not getting their balanced budget amendment through.
Has there been an honest accounting of the stimulus. I know that a bunch of big organization went straight to the front of the line for huge handouts. And progressive campaign chests were filled.
Funny, I bought a Mini-14 and 1,000 rounds with my first one.
I figured getting the first would result in me needing the second.
Very recently I had the opportunity to help a 21 yr old person who was adrift in many ways. She mentioned to me that her income lately came from various stimulus checks because she fit in one category for the twelve hundred and another for small business. She was in no shape to be a small business owner but she and another person of equal bad habits had started one, I do not know the date but it paid off for them. I wish to Almighty God that the looting of the US treasury would stop. NOW. I will take what we get automatically and it will go straight to the campaign to reelect Pres Trump. We are seeing what communist overthrow of a govt results in. It is either Pres Trump or all out total destruction of this Republic.
NO! Get people working again! Obviously, stupid democrats think that the government can manufacture money. They didn’t learn anything from Venezuela.
The goal should be to have as many people as possible working as productively as possible. (That’s not a democrat party goal.)
How much money could I get with a second stimulus check?
The HEROES Act offers a larger stimulus payment than the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. Under the new legislation each member of a household would receive $1,200, including children. The income thresholds would remain the same, meaning that single taxpayers earning less than $75,000 and married taxpayers earning a total of $150,000 would receive the full payments. For instance, a family of four whose parents earn less than $150,000 would receive $4,800.
HEROES would cap total payments at $6,000 per family. Under CARES, a family of four whose parents earn less than a combined $150,000 received $3,400, since that law directed $500 for each child under the age of 17. To see how much you would receive under the HEROES Act, you can check this stimulus calculator from OmniCalculator.
