MONROE, Mich. Dozens of people are saying its beyond time for the statue of Civil War commander General Armstrong Custer in Monroe to finally come down.
All of us feel like if this is up then we have no justice, we have no peace at all, honestly. It feels like its a threat to us, honestly. Like, why is this up, praising this guy when we have no justice for our colors, said one Monroe woman.
Shes not the only one who feels that way. An online petition has bee started proposing the statues removal and so far its received thousands of signatures.
We should have justice for ourselves. If we dont feel like this needs to be up then all of us as a community should be able to come together. Everybody deserves Justice. Everybody deserves peace. Everyone deserves equality. Until we have all that, we will not have no peace. No justice, no peace, Ariana Baez said.
But only time will tell in a world thats ever-changing, especially in the year 2020.
We out here fighting for our people, you know? Custer, that gotta come down, a woman said.

Yes, but he also slaughtered Indians before being wiped out.
It’s easy he killed all of his men, was a martinet as a leader and the best testimony of this is the refusal of one of his junior commanders, knowing he was being slaughtered, to come to aid (because he knew doing so would have wiped out his Battalion of Troops D, H & K, and he chose to come to the aid of Reno who was getting is a@@ whupped and much closer).
Speaking of Colonel Frederick Benteen.
Animus otherwise stems from long ago encounters (not by me, but namesake) with the desperate little man. And I agree— LOL!! Heh.
He ordered Custer to attack the plains Indians.
Admit it.
You HATE Custer with a passion because Custer defeated Jeb Stuart.
No dude, Lincoln is buried in Grants tomb. Are you from under the Brooklyn bridge or something?
The table that Custer had, which Grant and Lee used to sign the Confederate surrender at the McLean house in Appomattox, was in the town museum in Monroe for years. People would make special visits to see the table, like people visit the USS Missouri to see where the Japanese surrender was signed. After Custer’s death the statue of him was put in the town square. Some years later the town city council wanted to reclaim the land where the statue was for development so they decided to move the Custer statue away from the town square. Custer’s widow objected to the move but the city council did it anyway. So she gave the table to the Smithsonian Museum, thereby causing Monroe to lose all of the Civil War tourist trade they otherwise would have enjoyed. It’s a great example of how city leaders have always been jackasses, like the many jackasses that are responsible for the collapse of cities throughout this country today, particularly now with the COVID-19 lockdowns and unfettered rioting.
And we need to remove every stone-faced politician from office too.
Will the immaculate progressive please throw the first stone.
I’d say Custer got his “justice” when the Indians killed him at Little Big Horn.
Sitting Bull issued and Crazy Horse carried out the death sentence.
Instant justice.
Snuffed out a future political career. Though he should be lauded for attempting to take on the deep state Bureau of Indian affairs at the time.
Yeh, but Grant was a slave owner, so he’s gotta go too.
Can someone with sense just collect all these statues and preserve them until some sense comes back to this country
Welcome to the Cultural Revolution, everything is going to come crashing down.
Yep. And its really gonna suck.
Best be ready.

At the Little Bighorn, Colonel Custer was one of just two soldiers on the field not scalped.

Mutilating is what pagan cultures do,whether one can believe the recorded memories so long after the event. His brother Tom was so mutilated it took a tattoo to identify him. Tom was a real hero, awarded two Medals of Honor in the Civil War,and found right next to Lt.Col.Custer.
Forensics as a field, this is my interest. Not the COD—which was evident—multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, and a non-exiting left temple wound (from a distance) he did not shoot himself, though many did.
The psycho-forensics are interesting as well, excellent resource— US Army : https://ssi.army.libguides.com/littlebighorn
From a while back— a forensic archaeologic look at the battle, with controversy as well, but the mapping of shell casings is fascinating as is the scanning x-ray and metallurgy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4OjHlvqIcY
............yes, and i would say he already took a knee both knees in fact.
Nonetheless, he wasnt scalped.
