Bubba Wallace wants Confederate flags removed from NASCAR tracks

Bubba Wallace wore a shirt that read "I Can't Breathe Black Lives Matter" before Sunday's NASCAR race in Atlanta, and now the circuit's only full-time black driver is pushing for change at the track.

"My next step would be to get rid of all Confederate flags," Wallace told CNN on Monday. "No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. So it starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here. They have no place for them."

Wallace, who drives the No. 43 car for Richard Petty Motorsports, recognizes his position will not sit well with some people.

"There's going to be a lot of angry people that carry those flags proudly, but it's time for change," he said. "We have to change that, and I encourage NASCAR -- we will have those conversations to remove those flags."

Wallace, a 26-year-old native of Alabama, said he wasn't always bothered by seeing Confederate flags.

"What I'm chasing is checkered flags, and that was kind of my narrative," Wallace said, "but diving more into it and educating myself, people feel uncomfortable with that, people talk about that -- that's the first thing they bring up."

When asked whether he thought his opinion on the Confederate flag was unpopular, Wallace said he sees it as something the sport must take a strong stance on.

"We should not be able to have an argument over that," he said. "It is a thick line we cannot cross anymore."

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

After that pandering start to the race last Sunday, I immediately turned off the TV after the first lap and I will never watch another NASCAR race again.

I have better things to do with my time.

He probably wont lose his ride because he is part black...but if he was all white he would be in danger of getting the boot.

The Clinton/Gore team in 1992 had the Confederate battle flag on bumper stickers, T-shirts, mugs, etc., along with the names Clinton/Gore. No one was screaming back then.

We had Mississippi day in the northwest quadrant of the park

Blacks came down from Harlem who had Mississippi roots and a good time had by all

I wasn't. Let me explain . DNA test showed 1/1500% more or less. It could have been none. I can't recall. If you say it was none, I won't argue.I was under the impression the test indicated there was a minuscule of Indian blood in her. What I meant to say without saying was that Mr. Wallace had as much Black blood in him as Elizabeth Warren had Indian blood in her. She claimed to be Indian for financial gain. In my opinion, Mr. Wallace claims to be Black for the same reason.

The parents are much more likely to instill manners in their children, outside of Atlanta and Charlotte they are more attached to the land, they provide a disproportionate number of soldiers and marines, they are more likely to not put their nose in other people's business, and their children are far less likely to be snowflakes, even if from well-to-do families.

I fly the CSA battle flag all the time. Black people need to get over their fear of states rights. That is the core issue and not slavery. Black folk love your big Daddy Federal government don't you?
