Hey! That was my late uncle! He came by the house one day in full camo ages ago and swore to my mother in front of us that when he kicked, they'd send a search party out for him and find him dead in his tree stand, two days cold.......LOL! (Those forests in Allegany County are a literal bear during deer season.)
That was also my dad.
And he’d drag me along.
Can’t count the times I was stuck up against some tree in the damn cold for *hours*, because God forbid I breathe too deeply and scare away the deer.
And to this day, I walk soundlessly, to the point of nearly scaring Lenny to death when I suddenly “appear” beside him.
It was a Mortal Sin to snap a twig or crackle a leaf.
Oh!
I forgot to mention the fishing trips.
Couldn’t speak or even move my feet lest I bump the canoe sides and scare away every fish in the river.
I am really good at sitting utterly motionless, now.
:D
