I do not see how blocking streets can be considered a peaceful protest. What point were those idiots trying to make?

Not when they beat on cars and vandalize them, pull people out and beat them.

Most cities have laws (regulations) that require all gatherings over a certain number to get a permit. This is considered constitutional. WHich means that the police have every right to remove even a “peaceful protest” if that protest is “unlawful”.

At the least, I will not fault police for clearing actual streets. You try standing in the middle of a road to make some point, and see how long you last before the police come and take you away. If one person isn’t a protest, than 1000 isn’t either.
