No, that's what happened in Detroit, DC, and elsewhere in 67 and in 68 when MLK was killed. But the 82d had actually engaged in combat against the Detroit thugs and the 82d got a reputation that you didn't want to mess with them. Word got out that we had arrived. It ended quickly and quietly, and I got flown back to Bragg so that I could throw my stuff in my car and drive to Shreveport, LA to get married.
