I get the impression it was the ‘adjacent building’ that was being referred to as having been defaced.
It wasn’t on the WH...It was on an adjacent federal building...
It was done to an adjacent building...where the secret service took one of the protesters..
Probably wasn’t deemed enough of a threat to physically confront and maybe escalate a physical battle and they also didn’t deem a sniper round was appropriate..
