STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE (excerpt)
The defendant pulled Mr. Floyd out of the passenger side of the squad car at 8:19:38 p.m. and Mr. Floyd went to the ground face down and still handcuffed. Kueng held Mr. Floyd’s back and Lane held his legs. The defendant placed his left knee in the area of Mr. Floyd’s head and neck. Mr. Floyd said, “I can’t breathe” multiple times and repeatedly said, “Mama” and “please,” as well. The defendant and the other two officers stayed in their positions.The officers said, “You are talking fine” to Mr. Floyd as he continued to move back and forth. Lane asked, “should we roll him on his side?” and the defendant said, “No, staying put where we got him.” Officer Lane said, “I am worried about excited delirium or whatever.” The defendant said, “That’s why we have him on his stomach.” None of the three officers moved from their positions.
BWC video shows Mr. Floyd continue to move and breathe. At 8:24:24, Mr. Floyd stopped moving. At 8:25:31 the video appears to show Mr. Floyd ceasing to breathe or speak. Lane said, “want to roll him on his side.” Kueng checked Mr. Floyd’s right wrist for a pulse and said, “I couldn’t find one.” None of the officers moved from their positions.
At 8:27:24, the defendant removed his knee from Mr. Floyd’s neck. An ambulance and emergency medical personnel arrived, the officers placed Mr. Floyd on a gurney, and the ambulance left the scene. Mr. Floyd was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner (ME) conducted Mr. Floyd’s autopsy on May 26, 2020. The full report of the ME is pending but the ME has made the following preliminary findings. The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.
The defendant had his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in total. Two minutes and 53 seconds of this was after Mr. Floyd was non-responsive. Police are trained that this type of restraint with a subject in a prone position is inherently dangerous.

Decades ago, I attended college in Minnesota when Al Quie was the governor. The DFL usually dominated the Independent Republicans. In order for the GOP to win, the DFL would have to make mistakes which caused some voters to put them out of office for a single term as a corrective measure.
The wildly liberal social welfare benefits in Minnesota also attracted lots of out of state riff raff elements to the Twin Cities.
If not asphyxiation, then the most likely cause of death would be sudden cardiac arrest syndrome. For the ME, this is less a conjecture than a simp!e deduction, pending the toxicology results.

I don’t agree with that, I still believe LEOs are the good guys. I used to live about 3 miles west of that spot. I can’t imagine all the crap these guys put up with everyday. If you want to say this cop was a bad apple OK. If you want to say these 4 cops are bad apples OK. But the cops are still the good guys doing a tough job.
Only happened once for me, facing off against an LEO in court, but I won too. And yes, he was a big truth-shaver as well, which is why I fought it, since I wasn't guilty of anything.
Cost was absolutely free, though, since I represented myself.
It was kind of intimidating, seeing the judge, the deputy and the prosecutor all up there, all knowing each other on a first name basis, and here I am the total stranger, the outsider to the system, without a clue what's going to happen.
But I was happy to go away from there on friendly terms with the deputy. He approached me after to ask if I was a lawyer. I said, Nope, a computer programmer. That surprised him. He said "You won't believe how many people who defend themselves make a total mess of it and flail around. That's why I thought you must be a lawyer".
Of course, I would've been forced to hire a lawyer if it was a really serious charge.
If you would have read the paragraph in the complaint about the autopsy, you’ll see the medical examiner specifically said he saw no signs of asphyxia. Also google Ray Tensing Cincinnati. This was a cop that looked even more guilty than this one, he eventually had all charges dropped.

Turns out that procedure is completely legal in Minneapolis, it's in their training manual! AJ had a former cop on his show today and showed the Minneapolis restraining rule book concerning leg restraint applied to neck. I'm starting to wonder if they can convict that cop for anything.
Add to that the Officers history and it really becomes disheartening. Far be it from me to label anyone with “R” word but it seems the “ism” is alive and well here.
