No, they don’t. They cannot blackmail you into doing things they are not paying you to do. There are also State laws that forbids employers from taking actions against you for things you do off work. It’s part of that pesky US Constitution, 13th amendment about slavery. Just because they pay you to do one thing doesn’t mean they own you and can control every aspect of your life.

Nothing you said changes the fact that the man threatened her. I completely agree that she should have had the dog on a leash but the bigger point here is that there’s usually another side to the story and it’s often worth waiting for.
I know with me and I think with most men a certain trigger goes off when you see a woman threatened by a man no matter what kind of a jerk she is.
Why didn’t she just put the dog on the leash? She was being cruel and chocking the dog instead of just putting the dog on a leash.
