Has anyone asked why the man was telling the woman to leash the dog? Was the dog unruly? Barking? Running wild? Or was he being a Black Chad? Frankly, it’s not my business to butt in unless the behavior in question is harming or has the potential to harm those around the person.

This area of Central Park is designated as an urban wild life preserve and is very popular with bird watchers. Persons with dogs are allowed in this section of the park called The Rambles, but the dogs must be leashed at all times and are to remain on the walking paths at all times. There are numerous signs posted everywhere that very specifically point out these rules.

She was in violation of these rules and allegedly was allowing her dog to not only run free and unleashed and off the designated walking paths, but also allowing her dog to go into the underbrush which is definitely not allowed as unleashed and unruly dogs and their unruly owners can not only disturb the wildlife including ground nesting birds and other wildlife, but can also kill them.

The man was well within his rights to point out to her that she was violating the rules of the park and also point out to her that on the other side of the path, not all that far away, there was an area of the park that allowed unleashed dogs.

After trying to reason with her, she ignored him and claimed that this was the only place she could let her dog off leash, which was a lie.

This man, an avid and regular bird watcher has encountered dog people like her before and carries dog treats with him, not harm the dogs but to entice them to come to him so he can show their owners that their dogs were not under their control and needed to be leashed.

When this woman got upset that she was challenged for violating the well posted rules, the first thing she did was run up to him and attempt to get in his face so she was obviously not intimated by him or for fear of her life by him, and then play the race card by telling him “I’m going to call the police and tell them that an African American man is threating me”. Why would she tell him specifically that she was going to call the police and tell them that an “African American man” is threatening her if not to imply that a white woman being harassed by a black man might get a beat down the responding cops.

If not a beat down, he might get shot. It is NYPD, after all.

Thanks to all who answered my question. I would have hollered at her as well.
