I think he needs a mouthpiece that can articulate “the devil (Obama) made me do it” eloquently.

If he doesn’t drop the case, he will be forced off by the higher court. This judge, based on the false witness testimony of FBI and prosecutors, accused Flynn of Treason! He walked it back later, but it only goes to show the extent to which the conspiracy almost succeeded - even snowing the judge. He is either highly partisan, or in some form of denial. A clear headed impartial judge would have dropped this case immediately and slapped sanctions on the prosecutors and the investigators. Instead of hiring a defense lawyer, he should be referring the prosecution team to federal prosecutors.

“to make arguments against the Justice Department’s bid to ditch the prosecution”

Representing who? The Democrat Party? Hillary Clinton? John Comey?

Breathtaking.

This guy really thinks he’s untouchable.

Where is the money for all this coming from? Who is paying, and does any other judge hire a dedicated lawyer to deal with an appeals court order?

When a judge has to hire a trial lawyer to defend himself, that judge is in deep do-do.

A federal judge hiring a trial lawyer at taxpayer expense.

We truly live in Bizarro World.

Is this even legal? I mean if he needs to hire a lawyer with all the attendant privacy privileged, and the taxpayer is footing that bill, that seems to be an admission that he can’t do his job.

When does a judge need a lawyer?

No one would write a work of fiction with this story line, no one would believe this legal maneuvering. Guess the Deep State just wants to keep on fighting. My question is will De Judge lose his position when not only the Appeal Court, but the Supreme Courts slaps De Judge down! Talk about taking one for the team........

Once FBI abuses of Flynn become more prominent in the daily news media, then Judge Sullivan’s position will become weaker and weaker. He will look more stupid as this goes on. His facts suck, and Barr will show him in Technicolor.

No prosecution? No problem! The Judge will hire a prosecutor! Seems legit? But who does this prosecutor represent? We are no longer in an adversarial legal system with the judge as a neutral arbiter, as it is the judge himself who now appears to be prosecuting Flynn.

Unable to answer the DC Circuit’s questions himself, it sounds like he now wants an attorney to argue his case. There is no way this all happens before 1 June. More delays. Hopefully, the 3 Judge Panel tells Sullivan they will only accept a written argument against his dismissal and stick to the deadline.

“Federal rules do not allow prosecutors to unilaterally dismiss any criminal case. They need “leave of court” before a charge can be withdrawn.”

They need leave of court only so the Judge can insure that the dismissal is not being filed in order to prejudice the rights of the Defendant in some way. No other reason and no other investigation by the court is necessary or permitted.

Since the DOJ dropped the case, Sullivan's actions raise a lot of questions:

Does Sullivan have the legal authority to continue it on his own under U.S. law and the rules of the court?
Can he sentence Flynn anyway, when as far as the DOJ is concerned, the case aganist him was fraudulent?
If h sentences Flynn, when he no longer has the legal authority, then what?
Is his conduct grounds for pursuing sanctions aganist him for misconduct from the bench?

Only taxpaying little people pay for defending against the corruption of “public servants”. The misnomer is the claim they are public servants when the reality is they suck on the teats of the public while never being held personally accountable.

I cannot find it right now, but one of the sources in the Sheryl Attkisson lawsuit against the DOJ for spying on her went on a twitter spree against this Judge. It was pretty wild.

The source said Judge Sullivan had committed many illegal acts getting his sons out of criminal charges and that the Judge was involved in skimming grant money from Howard University and buying art, which hangs in his chambers (”no FBI agent will get a search warrant for a federal judge’s chambers...”)

I do not know how to find this thread, but if someone does find it, it may provide the clues as to why Judge Sullivan is lawyer-ing up.
