Memorial Day Weekend Corona Virus Thread
FluTrackers has a thread of businesses hiring right now:
Great.
So if everyone does this, what does that do to the hospitals?
And if you declare bankruptcy with that...that will affect your getting a job, moving, buying a car, etc.
Still no winners here.
Don’t know about the rest of the country but here you can pay $1 every month and they’re not supposed to hassle you about the medical bill. Of course, I pay what I owe when I owe it. Yeah, that makes me stupid and poor.
Wonder which kid would be sent home for violating the school dress code next fall.
“NYC lawmakers have introduced a bill attempting to have the citys wet markets closed for good...”
Where are the “muh rahts!” crowd on this one?
Coronavirus: British pilot with COVID-19 in Vietnam wakes from coma but needs lifesaving lung transplant
Medics declared him free of coronavirus but he has severe complications relating to his immune system, including his lungs.
Thanks for the update, and reference to post #53
But having that amount on your credit would destroy it.
You’d never move & buy another house w/o having the cash up front.
Or get a job that did a credit check first.
Or rent an apartment, etc.
And you’d never leave anyone anything in a will, the bill would get paid off before any heirs got anything.
Still symptomatic nearly 4 months later.
That's pretty scary.
I know that death occurs 2-6 weeks after infection. I wonder how long recovery takes. I have been recording worldwide and US case numbers daily. I can tell how many cases are recovered (42%) but not how long they were ill.
Given some of the organ damage it causes, people may be left permanently impaired from Covid-19.
Listening to George Webb, he just said Belgium has the highest death rate. I did not know that.
Re: New COVID-19 hot spots emerge across the U.S.: Here’s what you need to know (5/29/20)
There are many people who take the precautions seriously and recognize how dangerous Covid-19 is. They’ll take the precautions to help protect themselves and others.
There are others, however, who have concocted conspiracy theories and their own version of microbiology that has nothing to do with anything actually known about the subject. Many of them post here on FR, but I’ve also run across them in other fora. Those people are dangerous. They are the ones who will ensure that the pandemic continues.
My sense is that many of them will need to either catch Covid-19 or have someone they know catch it and see the seriousness of it first hand before they believe that it really is something to be concerned about.
We know a formerly healthy early 30 something woman.
Has permanent kidney damage from this.
Ran fever 102ish+ for three WEEKS with this.
Still has no sense of taste or smell, 3 months later.
I’m hoping I can telework from home until my state is completely re-opened. My workplace is currently requiring masks on-site. Lord knows, I’m willing to comply, but I’d rather not go on-site in the first place. I simply don’t like wearing them, especially for a 12-hour shift!
FD: Yes, I wear one when I shop for groceries or go to other enclosed public places.
Hopefully, this dude can get a 2nd jumbo mortgage on a 5000-square-foot house to swing that disaster.
Exactly like my hubby. He’s not a fool about the masks but realizes that he’s at risk of being significantly ill even if he’s not really at risk of death.
I’m just betting that R0 for the US is higher than 1.01 tonight...
No reason...(except those nice riots)
At least she’s alive.
Back in April, my sister in law texted to say that one of her neighbors, a young mother of two, had died of Covid. A couple of days later, we went to settlement on a house we sold, and the settlement officer told us that a 22 year old woman he knew had just died that day.
In Maryland, a teenager has died from it.
I have focused mostly on the deaths from Covid-19, because the statistics do not include details about how many people are impaired from it, for example, by losing their sense of smell and taste. In addition, details about long-term impairments are still coming out.
I am suspicious of the fact that ‘LOW MORTALITY’ is shouted from the rooftops but NOBODY is talking about morbidity.
No one.
I suspect this virus will lower the T and swimmer count of every male that contracts it.
When will we hear about that?
Any downturn in fertility will probably be linked to the economic destruction caused by the lockdown.
Lockdown is like global warming now...blamed for all ills.
