Memorial Day Weekend Corona Virus Thread
Nevada continues to see surge in daily COVID-19 cases, leaders ‘concerned’
5 versions of COVID-19 circulating in Nevada
“Every version of coronavirus we see on the planet... some member of that family is circulating in Nevada. We don’t know why we have such a high diversity in the state.”
Update on “It’s Just the Flu” aka “Just Because They Tested Positive, They Probably Died From An Ingrown Toenail”:
TX - 1,126 died from pneumonia and influenza last season vs. 3,735 deaths so far from CV.
Tourists. Ding, ding, ding.
That’s what happens when you’re open but nobody else is...
(build it and they will come)...(and infect you)...
The guy I follow for GA numbers posted this yesterday, I thought it was interesting:

Fulton +2,563 for past week, besting Gwinnett (+2,156). Non-Resident + 3,302. This category gets more curious. Who’s in it, and why does it experience such frequent large re-classifications later (normally reductions)?

Teacher blames parents for breaking COVID-19 restrictions, dies of virus
Israeli kindergarten teacher from Petah Tikva, 64-year-old Shalva Zalfreind, passed away on Friday after contracting coronavirus, Channel 13 reported.
Two weeks prior to her death, Zalfreind claimed in a Whatsapp group with her students’ parents that some families are not upholding the coronavirus restrictions applied by the government, saying that “the authorities are certain about families who violated isolation or did not follow the municipality’s instructions, not to send in children who have a family member in isolation in their home.”
2,000-plus new coronavirus cases in Alabama; Jefferson County adds almost 300 new cases
Been stocking up on spices, vanilla, coconut oil, tea and coffee for 5 months now.
Most of it in ziploc bags in my freezer now.
I guess even in Israel, schools are ‘free daycare’.
It’s difficult to budget for one parent to stay home with kids if all your plans rely on 2 parents working because ‘free daycare’.
Off topic, kind of, but are all of you in the south still dealing with this dust like we are? We have changed air filters twice and still dusting the black-grey dust every few days.
Today we are doing a spring cleaning level of dusting, I hope this helps
Israels Teva donating potential COVID-19 treatment to US hospitals

Shame. Seems they’ve largely been unused.
It’s impossible to get a scrip for that in my state. MD’s are afraid of being sued if there are side effects.
Hubby’s coworker that tested positive (his test was expedited, contact with VIP will do that!) is ‘chewing a cigar’, drinking tonic water, taking pepcid and dosing with vitamin D. His MD told him to take D, zinc, C, Quercetin (if he could find it) and pepcid.
So far so good. Symptoms are fever, severe headache and ‘wiped out’. His wife is getting tested today.
I will also add: Coworker has been on ‘carnivore diet’ since the first of the year. He’s lost 50+lbs and gone off all his meds since then. Before, he was in a risk category. 50+yrs old, obese, HTN, T2D, etc. IIRC hubby indicated coworker’s BMI was under 30 now. So still overweight a bit but no longer obese...
There is/was issues with data here too. Lots of times it’s someone who lives in one county, gets tested and/or treated in another one entirely. Then the argument over which county gets the positive.
YMMV.
It resolves over time though, after some apparent haggling over who gets it.
Ditto deaths. Our deaths have gone down a cpl once or twice with an adjacent county going up the delta. Person worked in this county but lived in the other.
It’s a moving target.
