Memorial Day Weekend Corona Virus Thread
Kroger has just now started having the buy5get5 deals again.
The Friday sale loss leaders have been AWOL since march though. bummer.

We just need to get the test turnaround like it is for the flu.
Go to doc, get swabbed, wait 15 minutes, get result, get scrip, leave, etc...
Turnaround for test results in my state is now about 10 days. WAY to long for HCQ to really do any good. By that point you’re either mostly over it or on O2 in the hospital. And they’re not testing asymptomatic people anymore either.

Abstract
Several lines of evidence support a link between the essential element zinc and the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). An important fact is that zinc is present in proteins of humans and of viruses. Some zinc sites in viral enzymes may serve as drug targets and may liberate zinc ions, thus leading to changes in intracellular concentration of zinc ions, while increased intracellular zinc may induce biological effects in both the host and the virus. Drugs such as chloroquine may contribute to increased intracellular zinc. Moreover, clinical trials on the use of zinc alone or in addition to other drugs in the prophylaxis/treatment of COVID-19 are ongoing. Thereby, we aim to discuss the rationale for targeting zinc metalloenzymes with regard to COVID-19.

Social distancing and COVID-19: A law of diminishing returns

That’s an interesting paper.
I think what we found in the NE with the extended lockdowns and huge apartment complexes was this:
Transmission between unknown/unrelated/non co-living individuals largely ceased.
Transmission then proceeded between those who shared an apartment/apartment building.
If ‘lockdown’ (which wasn’t) had ended after 2 or 3 weeks like it did in the red states, no difference would have been seen, perhaps even an increase. Since the virus would have been seeded from 1 locked down individual to t heir entire families. OR, even worse from one individual to their entire floor or apartment block.
This is why the latter part of the lockdown in the NE had people coming to the hospital sick ‘from home’. They were infected at home by someone who was an essential worker OR from a neighbor (via garbage room, elevator, mail room, laundry room, etc).
The extended lockdowns in the NE snuffed out these transmission chains as well. Once they were done, they were done.
This is why cases in the NE have been slow to rise. That and basic common sense (masks, etc).
Ditto the extended lockdowns in Europe. There are very few cases left to ‘seed’ infections going forward.
This is ALSO why some places like co-op city got as high as 60% antibody presence.
There is no ‘magic 20%’ antibody presence that stops this thing. IF that were true, co-op city wouldn’t have nearly 60^ antibodies.
Any ‘lockdown/transmission’ model that doesn’t account for the particular demographics/circumstances of large apartment buildings and transmission withIN those is bogus to begin with. There will *always* be a second wave of infections as locked down infected people infect those they live with.

“Hey there’s Woollery’s son” “Make sure he’s positive”
“Just saw him reach for a Kleenex”
“Positive” Stamp certified
My wife’s coworker stated something about a 10 min test at Rite Aid, I have not found anything to confirm this. I heard the white house has a 10 min test also.
Hubby has a coworker that’s presumed positive (he’s waiting on a test result). Doc told him to take C, quercetin, zinc and pepcid.
So far, so good.

“Dissemination and co-circulation of SARS-CoV2 subclades exhibiting enhanced transmission associated with increased mortality in Western Europe and the United States”
“The high cumulative frequencies of both subclades showed inconsistent but significant association with high cumulative CFRs in some of the regions. When the frequencies of the subclades were analyzed by their 7-day moving averages across each epidemic, we found co-circulation of both subclades to temporally correlate with peak mortality periods. We postulate that in areas with high numbers of these co-circulating subclades, a person may get serially infected. The second infection may trigger a hyperinflammatory response similar to the antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) response, which could explain the ARDS-like manifestations observed in people with co-morbidity, who may not mount sufficient levels of neutralizing antibodies against the first infection. Further studies are necessary but the implication of such a mechanism will need to be considered for all current COVID-19 vaccine designs.”

Let’s hope that one is complete BS...
Finally found this thread again!
My 30 year old daughter has been fighting COVID since late May. She’s essentially over it now and is back at work, but it took a full month. I was worried sick since she has mild asthma.
Glad she’s doing better now!
Has she had her kidney function checked? If not, I would suggest it, just to see...
No, but she isn’t having any issues other than a lingering mild cough.
Anecdote:
Know an early 30 something that just had fever and back pain as symptoms. Turns out she’s got permanent kidney damage now.
She’s had neither. Her symptoms were chest congestion, cough, headache, fatigue and loss of sense of smell. She still hasn’t got her sense of smell back to normal.
Interesting. Our 30 something friend has been told her sense of taste/smell is probably gone for good now.
Hopefully your daughter’s will return since she’s more recently infected than our friend.
