The founder of Barstool Sports is raising questions about the efficacy of the White House's top infectious disease doctor in charge of responding to the coronavirus.
Dave Portnoy told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Friday that he is unsure whether Dr. Anthony Fauci knows what he is doing after hearing Fauci make contrasting statements about the disease and how people can fight against it.
"I don't mean to pile on Fauci, but we're making very important decisions based on what he's saying, and I think it's OK to say, 'I really don't know guys,'" Portnoy said. "But I get the feeling that if you ask him this question or what's one plus one equal, you're going to get seven different answers. It's OK to say you don't know."
"It's a moving target. It's a disease we've never met with before, but that's why I think, at this point, you've got to let people, individuals make decisions for themselves," Portnoy said. "The only thing, as I said before, that we absolutely know for certain is that if you continue the quarantine, you continue the lockdown, tons of people are going to lose their livelihoods."
"Those people should have the choice to make the decision rather than depend on things that listen, Fauci may be the nicest guy in the world, but he said, 'wear mask, don't wear mask,'" continued Portnoy. "He said, you know, 'The lockdown is going to go on indefinitely. We've got to end the lockdown.' So, it's just tough to really put that much stake in what he's saying when I don't think he knows."
Portnoy said Fauci should be more accountable on areas where he might have been wrong about the coronavirus and that the "American people" like politicians with "strong opinions" who are willing to admit their mistakes. The sports commentator added that he doesn't completely trust what Fauci says on a daily basis.
"There's videos of Fauci all through this. He's on different sides depending on the day, depending on the mood, like I said, the way the wind blows, you know, we're making seemingly life-changing decisions for other people based on facts that clearly are not facts," said Portnoy.
Portnoy was complimentary of Fauci at several points during the interview, suggesting he understood why Fauci discussed the coronavirus with Hollywood celebrities, including Julia Roberts, because "he has a believable face."
Around 1983 or so, this “expert” Fauci put out a paper saying that HIV was transmittable in a family situation by other means. Implications were staggering. Reagan being President, the media was ready to go all out. Only to discover that the claim was unsubstantiated and completely false. Next stop COVID 19.
Fauci is running neck and neck with Neil Ferguson for the Biggest Idiot of the 21st Century. And it’s only 2020!
I saw a FRAUD when I MUTED him and noticed how HAPPY he was with this PANDEMIC and RUINATION of Our Nation!
“I MUTED him and noticed how HAPPY he was”
OMG! I never thought of that. You’re right! He literally was riding a high on the destruction of the best country that God had given humanity, and the misery of the people. He was practically orgasmic every single time he spoke. The worse the news, the more elated he was.
It would be a perfect science fiction movie with the evil scientists surrounded by bubbling vials — except that it’s not fiction.
I believe “the wisdom of the crowd” is starting to take hold.
Sooner or later people will start seeing through the bullsh*t.
Perfect word for that FRAUD:
PROFESSIONAL WEASEL
two words....
It makes sense since this is a guy that writes love letters to hillary clinton..
He actually wrote them to stonefaced Cheryl Mills, longtime Hillary operative.
Cmon, hes the Director of the NIA, of course hed be asked to be on the task force.
Hes proven to be a fraud but acting like VP Pence or anyone else should of known is disingenuous.
Makes you wonder who intimidated Trump into listening to Fauci.
“acting like VP Pence or anyone else should of known is disingenuous.”
Of course Pence should HAVE known. Regular people vetted the old fart in a few days’ time via the internet. For a task force so critical a rudimentary investigation should’ve been done. His associations are splashed everywhere.
I guess I’m an idiot for wanting people on the task force who don’t hate Trump.
Alrighty then. Sad that the genius here arent running things.
