Sharyl: Camps largely divided along political lines. Many right-leaning media figures sided with hydroxychloroquine while the left-leaning press backed remdesivir. Each accusing the other of ignoring real science.
Dr. William ONeill: I've never seen science politicized in 40 years of practice.
Sharyl: Cardiologist Dr. William ONeill is a medical director at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan where theyre studying both remdesivir and hydroxychloroquine.
Some people in the media are treating hydroxychloroquine as if it's something that's being pitched by charlatans, it's dangerous, and that's been debunked and discredited. What do you make of that?
Dr. ONeill: I think that's very harmful. President Trump touted it early and so then the media set out to disprove and discredit it without any regard for science. I think those of us that are actually involved in the scientific endeavor feel that there is some value to it and it has to be tested.
Sharyl: Dr. ONeill says hes prescribed hydroxychloroquine to help numerous coronavirus patients and saw improvement in all of them. Hes less impressed, so far, by remdesivir.
Dr. ONeill: There's a lot of hype for the drug. I saw the original new England Journal article study and I saw the Lancet study and to me it's just like a big Ho Hum. I just don't see a big benefit to it.
Sharyl: Adding to the drama and confusion, a draft version of a study was accidentally published last month showing remdesivir did not help most coronavirus patients and caused such serious side effects, 18 test subjects were taken off the drug. Gilead, the maker of remdesivir, did not respond to our interview requests but has said it ended the study because it couldnt find enough volunteers to take part.

Don’t leave out the zinc. I wonder if Sharyl Attkisson made it clear that hydroxychloroquine requires high levels of zinc in the body to be effective (some people may have naturally high levels of zinc).
Talked to my doctor about it today. Apparently he doesn’t believe in this combo and has already written it off.
I guess if I come down with this and it becomes serious, I’m sunk.
It’s SICK how they’ve politicized it. I wonder if they just don’t WANT people to die off.
Get a better doctor.
Get another doctor before this one holds your life in his prejudiced hands.
Sharyl ping.
“Talked to my doctor about it today. Apparently he doesnt believe in this combo and has already written it off.”
As others said, get another doctor. My 82 y.o. mother got flu and then pneumonia while in the hospital to check out her head after a fall. She wasn’t eating or sleeping, or getting any nutrition, and was thus beginning to fail. I called the hospitalist one Friday morning and read him the riot act about getting her some IV vitamins to help her immune system...and I could smell his condescension of my lay-person’s demand. Monday rolled around and he did nothing - so I called again and demanded that he give her vitamins, specifically, C, D and zinc (yeah, I know, zinc is a mineral). Tuesday morning came and I went to visit Mom, and all I saw was a bag with amino acids (i.e. protein) and electrolytes. Now, with not eating, she needed some protein to combat muscle atrophy; she also needed electrolytes. But the bag did not contain a single milligram of any vitamin or mineral that would help her immune system. I hit the roof, called the head of the practice (who is my mother’s physician when she visits the office), and fired the arrogant MF’er. The next doc had her on a “banana bag” (so-called because of the yellow color from the vitamins) that afternoon, and another the next day. Thus began her (rather long and slow) recovery - but she got out before the Wu-flu patients started coming in, and is now as fiesty as ever.
Trust me, docs are human with all of the faults and foibles that this implies. My father and my mother’s father were docs, and damned good ones - mainly because they both realized that they didn’t know everything and were learning until the day they died. I’ve met plenty of docs besides them, and gotten to know many quite well. All are bright, but some are IYI (intelligent, yet idiot), not to mention arrogant as phuck. Don’t be afraid to fire one that doesn’t give you the service you deserve, just like a plumber, electrician, lawyer or A/C guy. Good service get rewarded with loyalty and referrals, and bad service with getting your ass fired. If you’re not going to advocate for yourself, then who will? Best to do that BEFORE you get sick with a really bad disease.
I made up my mind back in February that if I or a family member got the Wu-flu, that the course of treatment WOULD include HCQ, zithromax and zinc - and if a doc refused to give that immediately after a diagnosis (test or no), then he/she would be fired on the spot and replaced. I read the studies before Trump announced that he favored its use, and came to the conclusion that early use was a cure (i.e. it stops reproduction of the virus pretty much in its tracks, and if you catch it early then your immune system will effectively eat what’s in your body for lunch and crap it out by dinner.
That the Dems and other Trump opponents so savagely denounced HCQ after he mentioned it, only reinforced my view that it had to work - because they were (and still are) desperate to collapse the economy to stop Trump. They simply DO NOT CARE if they kill tens or hundreds of thousands in the process, so long as the process ends up with them in power. These are sick people, and woe unto us if they ever get back into power - they’ve already revealed who they really are, and real power would ensure that we won’t recognize the country after long (if, that is, we survive).
BTW, their claim that HCQ is dangerous is a crock. Yes, it has certain potentially harmful effects if taken long term. Big deal, so does aspirin and cough medicine - and we continue to use them. People in the tens of millions have taken it over the last 65 years for malaria (and for a lot longer than the 5 day course of treatment for Wu-flu), and millions more over time for Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Oh, and my mother - the one with the pre-existing heart arrhythmia - has taken it everyday for 5 years for her RA, with no effect on her heart whatsoever, and no retinal damage (she gets checked for that quarterly). NO ONE is going to have any adverse side effects after taking 200mg twice a day for 5 days - NOT ONE PERSON. After that is understood, then the only question is efficacy - and multiple studies from around the world have shown that it is effective (with zinc and azithromycin) against Wu-flu if taken at or near the onset of symptoms (like any medicine, if you first take it when you’re dying of an infection, it simply cannot have the desired effect - that’s how anyone with 2 working neurons could understand that the “tests” undertaken by so many groups were just a fig leaf - they were DESIGNED to fail, but to offer the cover of that failure to deny HCQ to patients, let alone those not yet in bad enough condition to be admitted to a hospital.
Big Pharma even has its own version of niacin and fish oil that cost big bucks.

“Dr. William ONeill: I’ve never seen science politicized in 40 years of practice. “
Good morning.
Three words.
Baraq
Hussein
Obama.
He and his team politicized everything.
HCL/Zinc/Zpack for most, immediately after positive test or clinical presentation of Covid 19.
Redivismir for those who have known contradictions to HCQ, including those with heart issues. Also started immediately after positive test or clinical presentation.
The Dr must be blind.
Global cooling, ozone hole, global warming, climate change?
[[[It is interesting that scientists who have been critical of hydroxychloriquine did not wish to be interviewed for Cheryl Ackinsons article.]]]
Leftists assume they have always won the argument. Therefore they are through with debating any and all policy.
I tried that link. It only shows a few seconds of Ingraham.
Any other links? Thanks.
ROFLMAO!! I wonder how many other Freepers such as myself are going to remember that line and use it later at an appropriate time?
As for me, I'm going to goad my GF into an argument later today just so I can use it. :-)
Hydroxychloroquine can be prescribed to adults
and children of all ages. It can also be safely taken by
pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Hydroxychloroquine is a relatively well tolerated
medicine. The most common adverse reactions
reported are stomach pain, nausea, vomiting,
and headache. These side effects can often be
lessened by taking hydroxychloroquine with
food. Hydroxychloroquine may also cause
itching in some people.
