Elon Musk is rallying voters to vote for Trump
American Thinker ^ | 05/18/2020 | Monica Showalter

Greenie car manufacturer Elon Musk, who has 34 million Twitter followers, has effectively told them all to go vote for President Trump, using a popular vernacular:

Take the red pill 🌹— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 17, 2020

Fox News calls that a 'cryptic' tweet, but I suspect that's some leftist headline writer's doing, because the story itself indicates the writer knows perfectly well what is going on:

"Take the red pill" is a line from the popular 1999 movie “The Matrix” about seeking the unvarnished truth: "You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."

More recently, it's been slang for people abandoning the ways of liberalism for the values of conservatism. People of all ages and ethnicities posted online videos describing "red pill moments" — personal awakenings that have caused them to reject leftist narratives imbibed since childhood from friends, teachers, and the news and entertainment media.

Leftists of all stripes bellowed their displeasure about this tweet, none more loudly than the movie industry people who created the original story. After all, it's their movie script line has become a rallying cry to 'join the conservatives' even though that wasn't their intention - and the analogy described by Fox is particularly interesting, given that Democratic standard-bearer Joe Biden wants everything to go back to the pre-Trump era (except more leftish), which is perfectly analogous with the blue pill, while Musk himself is famous for enjoying deep dives into the unknown, same as the red pill. The Tesla founder definitely thought that tweet through before he posted it.

I never caught it :-) what I did catch is how much I was spending on going out and other things and how I have no intention of spending that much again. In 2 months my finances have gotten so much better.

I will spend and have a good time but maybe a third of the amount I was. A lot of it was wasted.

others May see it as life is short and the time to live is now. I hope a lot of good comes of it.

but for this generation you are right. Very right. This is the first real challenge they faced

There’s a wikipedia article titled “red states and blue states” that does a fair job of explaining it.

NBC covered election night in 1976 with a board that lit wins fir Carter (D) in red and wins for Ford (R) in blue. In 1980. The other networks use light-up boards and graphics and most followed the D=red and R=blue scheme. This went on until roughly 1996. There were some color change-ups and some networks did have R=red and D=blue graphics.

In 2000, the networks agreed (and all media have followec since) to a consistent red for Republicans and blue for Democrats scheme. The “switch” so many have noticed.

The ho-hum rationale they share is that “since Republican and ‘red’ both begin with an ‘R’, it’s just easy to remember that.” I think the media wants to use the current color scheme to depict Republucans as angry, violent, “rebels” (like the Confederacy and their battle flag) while themselves and Democrats as long-suffering but indefatigable Union-loving “yankees.”

More universally, socialist and left-leaning parties have traditionally favored red as the color to represent their movements. Conservatives and more right-leaning parties have traditionally favored blue. I think that was the unstated rationale in 1976. But, dur to the obvious bad associations with the color red, the media has flipped the colors to make the right look bad.

Nevertheless, the Right has largely decided it’s better to embrace the change than argue about it.

“ It was obviously a concerted, agreed-upon switch by the media, for obvious reasons. ”

Yep. In countries around the world red denotes Leftist/socialist/communist...except in the USA. Hmmm...

I don’t believe their explanation, I think it’s revisionist.

Democrats were RED, as in RED China, RED Soviet Union.

Birds of a feather, then and now.

Yes, you’re wrong.

At best he is risking the alienation of half of his customers, and worse, his half of his potential customers.

And that’s being generous.

Up until now, what percent of his customers would you guess have been on the left of the political spectrum?

I’ll make a WAG at 80%+ were Hillary voters.

How many Hillary voters hate him for what he tweeted?

A lot.

He’s risking a tremendous amount.

Taking government handouts is a wise idea for a businessman.
How are those conservatives at the TBTF banks doing?

Elon Musk reminds me of another great American industrialist/inventor: Howard Hughes. Howard want to stop atomic testing in Nevada and this is like Musk wanting to go green with his electric cars. Both show a forward thinking and with Musk space is probably the most forward direction.

Is that a circuitry joke?...

Sort of.

Previous person posted, "This could be series!", or something like that.

I don't know if he meant "series of events", or maybe "serious"?

And of course there are resistors, diodes, inductors, etc.

Why do Democrats always get their way? Republicans shouldn’t have agreed on the switch.. but then they have a habit of giving in!

sometimes it makes one have to confront and resolve things they refused to do until they had no choice.

But i’m not talking about myself :)

Yeah I am lol

2 bit things i had put off for several years. for certain reasons this virus made me have to make decisions on them and it was for the best.

life is odd. an entity with no brain and no thoughts can bring about such changes.

heck scientists go back and forth as to whether a virus is life or not

have a good day friend

“I have also found the good Lord brings you what you need, when you need it..”

That applies to the people coming in to, and out of, your life.
