BEIJING (AP) Chinas commerce ministry says it will take all necessary measures in response to new U.S. restrictions on Chinese tech giant Huaweis ability to use American technology, calling the measures an abuse of state power and a violation of market principles.
An unidentified spokesperson quoted Sunday in a statement on the ministrys website said the regulations also threatened the security of the global industrial and supply chain.
The U.S. uses state power, under the so-called excuse of national security, and abuses export control measures to continuously oppress and contain specific enterprises of other countries, the statement said.
China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, it said.
Under the new rules, foreign semiconductor makers who use American technology must obtain a U.S. license to ship Huawei-designed semiconductors to the Chinese company.
Chip design and manufacturing equipment used in the worlds semiconductor plants is mostly U.S.-made, so the new rule affects foreign producers that sell to Huawei and affiliates including HiSilicon, which makes chips for supercomputers with scientific and military uses. The U.S. Commerce Department said foreign foundries would be granted a 120-day grace period for chips already in production.

What is that saying about what you know when you are drawing flack??
Watch for more of this as China starts to feel the heat on a global basis.
They are on the short end of the economic stick, but they do hold some cards, prime being the producers of most pharmaceuticals globally.
IMHO, it should be a national-defense priority to start re-shoring as much of that capacity as possible, as soon as possible, which is easier said than done. One bottleneck? We have been training university graduates in “women’s studies” and “gender studies” and “woke studies”. China has been sending it’s best and brightest, yes, to spy, but also to train thousands of chemists, who are needed to run those fermentors and reactors that are needed to produce modern drugs.
“Is it just me or does it seem we are edging to WW3?”
China is the least trustworthy nation on earth; hell, even the old Soviets were more honorable than the ChiComs, and the Soviets were a dishonorable lot.

As far as I know they kept every deal and treaty they ever signed with us. Of course they pushed at the edges of many, but never crossed the line.
Referring to USSR in above.

China relies on exports more than Saudi Arabia relies on oil.
The Chinese can take a slow boat to hell as far as I’m concerned.
Go to any one of the big retailers' websites, look at the reviews, and you'll find that increasingly one of the biggest questions is "where was it made?"
Hate to break it to you but WW3 started during the Bush 41 administration when the Chicoms got access to our economy.
Didn’t Nixon learn to kiss Chinese ass starting with Mao?
Sse my tagline. The Chinese do not believe they are under any legal, ethical or moral obligation to deal honestly with foreigners.
Huawei =the Peoples Liberation Armys backdoors...

but totally dependent on foreign oil to keep producing pharmaceuticals
I meant a shooting war. Yes we were already at war and up until 3 1/2 years ago we were getting our asses handed to us.
We may have to bring Freedom to China sooner than expected
Chicom bump for later... .
They will not engage in a shooting war with us. It’s not their way. Read Sun Tzu and Mao. They will act as the tide; Surge against weakness, recede against strength. Work on your enemy from within. Let others carry the fight for you. Be patient and play the long game.
That’s what China has always done. They are the consummate passive/aggressive state.
