I'd like to know more about this discrepancy - in the article it states -
“New York Times reporter Charlie Savage tweeted the practice is so “routine” that under President Trump, the National Security Agency handled 10,000 unmasking requests last year and 17,000 requests in 2018 – an average of 37 per day over the two years.”

But according to this article these “unmasking request are very rare -

They are comparing apples an oranges.

The agencies in charge of such things may ‘unmask’ people routinely, but how many times is it done by senior level white house officials? (answer - almost NEVER)
