Hungary supports Beijings efforts to prevent Taiwan taking part in the upcoming World Health Assembly (WHA), according to a Chinese statement issued after a telephone conversation between the two countries foreign ministers.
Chinas Foreign Minister Wang Yi called his European counterpart, Peter Szijjarto, on Thursday, the foreign ministry in Beijing said. During the call, Szijjarto told Wang that Budapest would not support Taiwans accession to the World Health Organisation (WHO) ahead of the annual gathering of health ministers from around the world that starts in Geneva on Monday and which Taipei is keen to attend. Hungary always upholds the one China principle, Szijjarto was quoted as saying.

Because contrary to what WHO says we are not all one world and we are not a global citizens by WHOs own policy.
Whatever..
Have to wonder how much money China gave Hungary’s leaders to make that statement.’
Should Hungary be independent of Austria?
We’re NOT in this all-together?
I oppose the United States membership of the WHO.
Have the Chinese done any belt and road projects in Hungary?
Hungary is being a good little vassal state, sit up, roll over, speak...
There must be a "my enemy's enemy" factor here somewhere that I know nothing about.
Why would Hungary care ? I dont see why a 10 million person country saying anything about the WHO. Taiwan is 24m. Why does China get its panties all out of whack over 24M people. Communists are illogical, idiotic and illegitimate. I^3
Why would Hungary care ?
Why do politicians come out of office rich? follow the money
Thats a good thought. Maybe the EU stated something recently and Hungary just want to be a thorn. Maybe they wanted to hear China say Hungary in that goofy way the Chinese speak.
or George Soros
> This seems odd. <
Agreed. Three points worth considering.
1. Hungary knows a little bit about oppressive, tyrannical regimes. So its hard to believe that they would just roll over for Red China.
2. The South China Morning Post is based in Red China, not Taiwan. So its fair to say that the SCMP is at least influenced by the ChiCom party line.
3. Who the heck can say exactly what happened in a phone call between two individuals? Ill wait until Viktor Orbán says something about this.
Eff that.
I’m Hungary
Fiddle dee dee.
Okay, I tripped over the blinkingly obvious. Didn't "consider the source." Didn't even look for the source.
Thanks for your alertness. As you say, we'll wait and see.
> Thanks for your alertness. <
Its not so much that I am alert as that I am hyper-sensitive about any article critical of Hungary. My grandparents were all born there. So Im not really a neutral observer.
P.S. Red China can go to hell.
I know. When the heck did THAT happen?
