Looks like you completely missed the point of the article.
New York has a scandal specifically around nursing homes, where the governor actually mandated that they accept coronavirus patients. Surprise, New York has a death count wildly in excess of the nation as a whole. Because old people are the most vulnerable population.
The article has nothing to do with contesting the overall count of coronavirus deaths. It has to do with under-reporting how bad this scandal is specifically around nursing homes

Yeah but it hides the fact that the policy of sending sick people to nursing homes and leaving them there is what killed them.
Next up: require New York nursing homes to call hospitals in New Jersey, so they can count as New Jersey deaths.

Instead he joked, laughed, and chatted with his mother Matilda on screen during his Mother's Day briefing. While hundreds, perhaps thousands of people lost their mother because of him, he picks that one day to stick it it their faces by having his mother on live with him, basically rubbing it in their noses. In a just world, heads should roll. Instead Hollywood will make a movie declaring Cuomo the hero of the china virus crackdown.

FTA, also by government decree, the bill ending this deadly requirement contains a provision where the nursing homes cannot be sued for the deaths. Coumo CYA.

Cause of death being CV-19 is what is counted not that they died.
Quick estimate is that New York will benefit from the ‘reported’ SNF death by $1.5 to $2.0 billion MINIMUM over the next two years. With the disclosure of the phony counting you can probably double-triple that number.
85% of the 214 Covid deaths (181) in my county have been related to nursing home/long term care facilities.
As of 5/14/2020 every one of the 46 Covid deaths in my town has been nursing home related. This information is from NJ.gov covid dashboard on LTC.
Same type of numbers in our Florida county.
78 total deaths and 50 deaths have been in nursing homes.
I recall that it was 10 days or so ago that Cuomo was talking about 60% of the deaths occurred in homes.
In his warped mind Cuomo would consider ‘nursing homes’ a home.
When the dust settles we will find that somewhere around 70% of the deaths in New York were nursing home patients regardless of where they died.
