The virus doesn’t necessarily go straight into your lungs. It’ll hook/stick to your mucous membranes or mouth first and from there find its way into your bloodstream (that’s why virus’s can also get in through your eyes)
The second part is viral load - a dozen of corona spores might die outside the body before getting absorbed and/or killed by the bodies early defenses.
Hundreds give a better chance of infecting you. Using mouthwash lowers the number of spores in the mouth and reduces the likelihood that you get infected.
I got the last dental cleaning appointment before my Dentist shut down back in March. They has me rinse with hydrogen peroxide as a safety precaution prior to the cleaning.
So, washing our hands and brushing our teeth are healthy things to do. The virus has taught us so much. Meanwhile, I can look forward to the mouthwash shelf being empty.
