I think he probably knew he would be fired.

I hope he’s that smart. When I saw the story yesterday I knew he would. Shouldn’t. He’s right. But in this world being right makes you more likely to get fired.

Doing this unsanctioned in uniform and on public time was bad idea.

i am not arguing his content. I agree with everything he said. The problem is police departments by their NATURE have very strict public affairs policies. Very strict.

They got him for being in uniform and doing the video in a squad car: and the his why the police union had nothing to stand on. Contract Law. The employer decides the what and when is appropriate. This is the same issue with the NFL and the kneelers and their inability to get their heads around Contract Law.

He would lose in court.

As opposed to shitting on people’s rights on public time and in uniform?

Doing this unsanctioned in uniform and on public time was bad idea.

It wouldn't have mattered if he did it in civvies at home, he was charged with insubordination and not following orders to remove the video.

He was backed by his superiors but the politicians demanded his termination.

He's a good man and patriot.

I live in his state and have no doubt the order came from our tyrannical and incompetent governor.

What other industry can kill and get away with it besides the abortion industry?
I will agree it is an industry like no other if that will make you happy. Dude.

“The left plays this game to win. The right, not so much. It’s why we’ve lost the country (we’re long past the point of “losing” it).”

Agree, sadly. The time to have quashed them was the LBJ era. Then, the Clinton era. Last, the Obama era.

Now, that untreated cancer has metastasized (rapidly with Obama).

“It’s totally an industry.” (law enforcement)

LEOs + unions + lawyers + judges + politicians + prisons + bondsmen + + +

Pretty much all of them. Certainly cars, airplanes, and cigs. Oh sure they get sued sometimes, but they all do the math. How much will we lose on lawsuits vs how much will it cost to fix the problem, oh look fixing it costs more, screw it ship it. Product defects result in people being killed all the time, and the company keeps on being profitable.

Leftists can’t be having the minds of their enforcers polluted by thoughts of things like the Constitution.

Who funds this ‘industry’ you speak of? We The People do, and we get to vote on their funding every year at our Town Meeting. Sorry you may not have that quaint custom, but around here they recognize who their employers are.

Direct and indirect killing. Apple’s and Oranges.
None of those are public servants.
Industry makes something. Service industry does not.
Public service is completely funded by taxes. They don’t make money, they get paid for their services e

Why do police departments love those big drug busts? Why do they love the Omni law that lets them confiscate all property they think might be related to a crime, and not have to give it back even they press no charges? Why does every police department deny having ticket quotas even though we all know they have ticket quotas? That’s where the bulk of their funding comes from. Don’t let that town meeting fool you. That’s a dog and pony show to make you think you matter and have say. You don’t.

Not at all. If your quality department says “this car has a problem, it’s gonna kill people” and you ship it anyway you are DIRECTLY killing people. “Service industry” includes software, so we make things too. I just laughed at somebody else for thinking police are completely funded by taxes. Simply not true in any way. And anybody that’s paid a traffic fine or seen the gloating press conference for a drug bust know that.

Police ARE an industry. If you can’t see that, it’s on you. Open your eyes and look at how things ACTUALLY work.

The left has core beliefs and they fight for them. The establishment right does not. Other than open borders and unfair trade, of course.

In another decade or two, maybe less, TX and Florida will join Virginia and California as third world states and it will be bye bye Miss American Pie.

“Oh dude come on. You really don’t think law enforcement is an industry? They have their own union, their own conventions, suppliers, revenue and budget targets. It’s totally an industry.”

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck? Yep. It’s a duck.

You're correct, of course, but I see all the hate you're getting from FReepers and I think it's hilarious. People on this forum yell and scream about the govt not being able to fire people and how awful paid admin leave and unions are. But when someone with whom they agree gets fired, then it's tyranny.

This guy could have sat in his basement and made a 2-hour video about this and there would have been no problem. But he chose to do it in a department car in uniform. Dumb.

Everyone I tagged in this comment please ask yourself one question: if an active military member was in uniform and put a video on youtube talking about how fantastic Nancy Pelosi is, would you be singing their praises or calling for them to be tossed out of the military?

It's not the opinion that got this guy fired, it was the manner in which he did it. You can't be on company time making videos like this!

Wrong - our Sheriffs have to contract with Towns for coverage. That budget gets voted on at Town Meeting, and I’ve seen it fail to pass. No contracts, no income and they’re relegated to ‘prisoner transport’ duty.
