Coronavirus: Riverside County supervisors rescind public health orders, blast Newsom's criteria

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 on Friday to rescind and amend a series of local public health orders stricter than California's statewide pandemic mandates.

The unanimous decision moves the county a step closer to reopening. It rescinds Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser's orders that limited vacation rentals and golf and mandated face-coverings in public throughout the county. The motion ultimately voted on amends Kaiser's school closure order, mandating most schools throughout the county remain closed until mid-June, but exempting vocational and higher education institutions.

This basically rescinds the Health Officers orders which were more restrictive and longer than the state restrictions. Despite the headline, only verbal pushback by some members to Newsom's plan for reopening.

There remain pockets of sanity in Riverside County, thanks to the presence of the military and retired military. There is an Air Force base there and a military cemetery. I don’t recall if there are other bases within the county anymore.

IMHO all over American people are coming out of the caves to do things no matter if the government says okay or not. Governments will adjust to that or face riots and then overthrow. Massive resistance.

It won’t have to go all the to overthrow any more than the scene in Miracle on 34th Street where the political hacks advise the judge that jailing Santa Claus would lose votes all over the place among voting blocs.

America is going to....Just Say No. Has a familiar sound to it.

True but only to an extent. There is a huge difference between saying f this and jumping into your car and seeing a friend and small businesses opening. This is what needs to happen en masse.

Supervisor Jeff Hewitt ultimately went along with the motion, but said he would prefer to take a much more confrontational approach against Newsom's criteria. At one point during Friday's meeting, he implored the supervisors to vote to lift all restrictions — including the state’s — immediately.

His fellow supervisors’ plan to negotiate with Newsom on reopening criteria, he said, was pointless because of the governor’s cult of personality and need to be right. Regarding the county's orders, he said he wanted to drop all COVID-related restrictions and trusted residents and businesses to make decisions to secure health and safety.

You’re right but it’s a start.

The sheeplike American people will see news stories where smiling, laughing people tell the interviewers “It’s just so good to be back out and going to places like this. It’s like New Years Eve or something. We love it.” At home: “Hey, I want what they have. Give it to me now.”

That will be video from certain states with certain governors (GOP) while others like Michigan’s Witch Whitmer will threaten people with police and National Guard.

Friction and discontent. More massive resistance.

I’m not seeing it here in MA. Yes, there was a big rally, at The Statehouse, led by radio talk show host Jeff Kuhner but it seems as though everyone is just following Charlie Baker’s orders without much complaint. At the rate we’re going, we should be the last state to reopen. I honestly think that NY will beat us to the punch.

Keep watching and waiting. I have faith in the Dems who will soon say “I’m bored. “I’m gonna do what I wanna do today.”

Problem will be the bars, beach places, clubs, small shops, restaurants and the rest whose owners and managers have to face the cops when they defy the rules in order to serve the burgeoning public demand.

And the innocent people who lost their jobs and cannot afford to stay in the middle class or working class as their income now is the same as that of the derelict sleeping on the sidewalk. How much spending money do they have? And will mom or dad stay home out of work with elementary school their children whose schools are locked down and a sitter would cost a fortune.

Maybe and I hope so, but I just read a similar story from PA on fox and the comments were full of how stupid Rs and Trump followers were all going to die because they won’t stay home or closed. On & on about how Trump is so incompetent OMG! the SS has COVID! ad nauseum.

Newsom is a more corrupt and bigger POS than Jerry Brown and Gray Davis added together and squared. Plus, that perpetual s**t-eating grin and being the nephew of Nancy Pelosi.

The one piece of good news is that President Trump has virtually no chance of carrying California in November. So Newsom’s only achievement will be to bankrupt the state and destroy the lives of millions of Californians who are out of work.

It’s now March Air Reserve Base. Many of the Reservists come from out of state to serve their commitment. There aren’t very many retired or current military in Riverside County any longer.

March AFB! That’s it, I totally blanked out on the name and I used to drive by it all the time.

Yes, after Bill and Hill shut down Mira Mar and I don’t recall if there were other bases they attacked, a lot of military and retired military were lost.

Those two were dreadful towards our military. Absolutely shameful.

We need to keep our military in town.If there is one kind of neighbor you really want on your street, it’s retired military.

I love our troops, but, they can be very young and don’t always make the best neighbors, especially when six move in together. But, retired military, they’re the best. Most I’ve met watch out for everything, know how to handle firearms better than anybody, can be counted on in emergencies, and are as reliable as daylight.
