Mueller's investigation of Trump has consumed Barr since Day One

WASHINGTON -- To his critics, Attorney General William Barr is doing all he can to undercut the conclusions of the Mueller investigation to please the White House. To his supporters, he is scrutinizing the probe of a presidential candidate that even the Justice Department's inspector general said was flawed.

Those fault lines were in sharp relief after Barr directed federal prosecutors to abandon their prosecution of Michael Flynn, who served briefly as national security adviser in the early days of the Trump administration.

Barr's decision to abandon the Flynn case renewed criticism that he was doing the president's bidding.

He was accused in the spring of soft-pedaling the Mueller report before it was released. And in February, he instructed prosecutors to dial back their sentencing recommendation for former Trump campaign aide Roger Stone.

But Barr has been consistent in his view that the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign was overzealous. A year ago, he told Congress that he wanted to review "both the genesis and the conduct of intelligence activities directed at the Trump campaign."

Thursday's court filing does not end the Flynn case. The Justice Department has now asked Federal District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan to dismiss the prosecution and suggested in its court filing that the judge had little choice in the matter.

But Sullivan may want to look more deeply at the government's version of what happened. "The judge may want to make some sort of inquiry to see if the dismissal is being sought for an appropriate purpose," said Chuck Rosenberg, a former federal prosecutor.

People forget what the Mueller Probe was to extend the investigation to give the demorats the House and Senate in 2018. The lsm kept harpiong on the coming indictments and most HR republicans didnot run on support for Trump. (Ryan is mainly to blame for that).

I did not go to the article, so I am wondering...is there one iota of fact and truth in Pete’s babblings?

I thought Pete was a cut above. Guess not.

Sullivan can’t just “withdraw the case.” Flynn has already pled guilty, and has been pursuing legal avenues to delay his sentencing for more than two years. The judge can only dismiss the case after one or both sides file formal motions to dismiss it. A motion for dismissal was filed by Flynn’s lawyers in the last few months, and no ruling had been issued yet. The judge now has a notice from the prosecution that they want to dismiss it, too.

If he’s a responsible judge he won’t just dismiss the case. He will call both sides — especially the prosecution — to his courtroom and ask them what the hell has been going on for the last three years.

“””NBC “News” / Comcast ^ | May 8, 2020”””

It would be more appropriate to label this report as coming from: ‘NBC News/Universal Studios’

What happens when there is a Merger of fantasy and news....

NBC and Universal Studios …….
ABC and Disney ……..
Rupert Murdock (Fox) and 20th Century Fox from 1985 to 2013 ……..
CBS and Viacom/Paramount Pictures ………

Just think about these mergers from a corporate standpoint. A screenwriter at Universal, Disney, 20th Century Fox, or Paramount Pictures is a great writer but their fantasy skills are not in the same league as a Kubrick or Spielberg. So what to the corporate bosses do? Well, they make the fantasy screenwriter a producer of television news or a print journalist. What could go wrong with that?

This will go down as the biggest crime in our history,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2nd biggest.
The Kenyanesian Usurpation made all the rest of the crimes possible.
But that one will remain hidden because the GOP cooperated to violate the Constitution.
The judge cannot constitutionally challenge the dismissal. Judges rule on legal disputes. If the prosecution files a motion to dismiss, there is no dispute. Both sides now seek dismissal of the case. Anything else puts the judge in the role of government prosecutor instead of the arbiter of a dispute.
Barr has a lot on his plate and has been delegating investigations to District Attorneys he trusts. Who ever heard the name Jeff Jensen until just the last week? Causes me to wonder how many more “Jeff Jensens” are working behind the scenes. Hope there are plenty.
Sullivan isn’t that stupid. He will likely sign an order dismissing the case that will read something like this:
“Upon the motion of the Department of Justice, the above captioned case is dismissed with prejudice.
It is so ORDERED.”
It will be that simple. Sullivan may even sign the order in chambers. He may have already signed it, or will by the end of the day.
Sullivan will not go ahead with sentencing. He wants this case off is docket ASAP. May even sign the order dismissing the case in chambers to avoid having to face Sidney Powell and LTG Flynn.
The 20 page motion is so compelling, Sullivan has no other option.
I am reminded once again how Political Bias rules above all.
When AG Eric Holder said he was “Obama’s Wingman” all bets were off. Then we had his Replacement Loretta Lynch meeting with BJ Clinton on the Tarmac to discuss Golf and Grandkids.
Didn’t see much criticism of those two in the DNC Press now did we?
My Favorite was BJ Clinton’s AG, Janet Reno. She and Bill murdered 20 Children in Waco. No big deal...
This is perhaps the single biggest organized internal threat to our republic since the Civil War. It’s much bigger than finding commies in the State Department, or even Obama giving billions to the terrorists in Iran. The Teapot Dome was peanuts to this, and the robber barons’ attempts to control the government pale beside this coup attempt.
Barr should be commended for his work so far, although I won’t be happy until I hear the Dims saying that orange jumpsuits are a statement of pride.
