GOP says Pritzker reopening plan won’t work

Republicans criticized Gov. JB Pritzker’s plan to reopen the state on a regional basis Wednesday saying it will still harm businesses and was developed without input from lawmakers.

Republican lawmakers also renewed their call for the General Assembly to be called back to Springfield and for several days if necessary to address a number of pressing issues beyond passing a budget.

Pritzker announced a plan Tuesday that will reopen the state in phases and by regions as long as new cases of the coronavirus drop and adequate medical facilities are available in the event of a resurgence.

“The governor laid out the regional approach our caucus called for. Unfortunately, it fails to recognize local authority. It continues to be a decree by one person.”

Under the timeline and criteria set out in the plan, it could be “months or years” before the state fully reopens.

(Representative) Durkin said the state’s hospitality industry will be destroyed under the timeline of the plan. If everything goes well, the earliest Phase 4 could be achieved is the end of June, he said.

“That will force bankruptcies and closures. This plan does not work,” Durkin said.

“The governor’s plan doesn’t play in Peoria,” said Rep. Ryan Spain of Peoria.

Pritzker has so far left it up to the Democratic legislative leaders to determine when the spring session should resume. They have not yet decided on a date to return to Springfield.

Illinois and Chicago have voted themselves SHIT HOLE status.

I couldn’t care less.

I live next door to Illinois, and on occasion, have driven across it.

I have a personal policy...I leave nothing in Illinois but gas fumes and urine.

not one red cent do I spend there.

Shortsighted approach.

Chicago was the breeding ground for the despicable Obama. President Zero’s Justice Department has attempted to unseat or hobble President Trump.

The entire country is still suffering from Zero’s Alinskyite policies.

In order to drain the swamp, you have to clean up all of the cesspools.

I am an escapee from IL. I am so glad I’m out of that totally Dem controlled h*llhole that it has become. I now bask in the sunshine down here in FL, with beautiful beaches, and southern charm. Best move I ever made in my life was getting out of IL at the first chance I got after retiring. Gov. Pricker lives up to my name for him. Just sayin....

I agree. It is all part of a long con game to leverage money out of the Feds. President Trump must resist this ploy.

The crooked Dems in Illinois do not want to use a bailout to make structural reforms. It would be like giving a bankrupt person another credit card.
