Your and Tom's points well taken. What I'd like to know is how new cases can be occurring after this duration of lock-downs.

We have no idea there are that many “new” cases, we are simply doing more and more testing. and the more people who have it the better, that means the sooner we will all have some protection. I hope I caught it at some point
The only way it should be counted as a ‘new case’ is if the people were tested clear of CV-19 the day before and then tested positive the next day. Otherwise is should be called an ‘old case’ that we just found out about because we just tested them for the first time.
