Asymmetric is the key. Although I think old claims are a little silly, we know the Democrats will ALWAYS dredge up old claims against any and all Republicans. That part of it will never go away. So, it just becomes stupid for Republicans to unilaterally decide that old claims are beneath us and that we won’t play the dirty game, and we won’t pursue old allegations against folks like Joe Biden. Why hamstring ourselves? The charges need to be pursued.
For me, the war stops when everyone officially decides that a police report needs to have been filed within a week of the assault, medical evidence of a sex assault has been obtained, and photographs of the bruises received by the victim as she strenuously attempted to fight off her attacker are on file. If you have all that, then let’s press charges. But, for now, it’s just politics, and everyone can play, and let’s all make baseless charges. Because why not?
