A 2018 video of former FBI Director James Comey is circulating again after the Department of Justice released bombshell documents that appear to show the FBI was planning a perjury trap for President Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
In the clip, MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace asks Comey who went around protocol to send FBI agents directly into the White House to interview the retired general in January 2017.
“I sent them," Comey reveals.
“[S]omething I probably wouldn't have done and maybe gotten away with in a more organized investigation,” he added.

Typically, the process would have gone through the White House counsel, which Comey explained: “If the FBI wanted to send agents into the White House itself to interview a senior official, you would work through the White House counsel, and there would be discussions and approvals and who would be there.”
On why he decided to bypass standard protocol, Comey said: “I thought: ‘It’s early enough, let’s just send a couple guys over.’”
The notes released Wednesday were reportedly written by former FBI general counsel James A. Baker and say: "What is our goal? Truth/admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?"

The only lesson that the FBI might learn from this is to punish note-takers like this one. The Comey interview was equally damning, though, and ignored. So maybe they don’t need to do anything at all, to continue business as usual.

Where is Comey in all of this? Oh, he’s probably staying at home due to the virus. And he’ll say that was his “prison” sentence which he has served, and doesn’t need serving again for the Flynn case. Besides, if he was really sent to prison they would release him because of the corona virus. This way Weinstein, Avenati and Comey will all be released and.... if I judge rightly, never seen again.
