Scientists in China appeared to dampen hopes that the coronavirus would eventually burn out for good and said the virus, which has been blamed for 200,000 deaths and decimating the world economy, will likely return each year.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told a coronavirus press briefing earlier this month that the world may never return to the “normal” that was known before the outbreak.
"When we get back to normal, we will go back to the point where we can function as a society,” he said. He continued, “If you want to get back to pre-coronavirus, that might not ever happen in the sense that the threat is there.”

I really think to be safe and secure we should give up some of our freedom. I mean all we are really doing by working is ruining our environment with those God-awful coal and gasoline fumes. If we stay at home and enjoy our guaranteed income we get to watch TV, text and play on our devices.

You realize, of course, that the command-and-control people would ALWAYS much rather have the frustrating and highly vexing problem forever be the issue, rather than to ever resolve the issue for once and all. This is the problem they have with Donald J. Trump - he SOLVES the problem, often in unique ways, and destroys the narrative so carefully built up by the command-and-control people, spoiling their game at least temporarily, and putting them at a loss until they come up with a new angle.
At this point what Trump desperately needs is a Virus Rumor and Panic Control Rapid Response Team.
The media is overflowing with ChiCom propaganda meant to destabilize. He needs to do more to confront it head on.
If Red Chinese scientists say it, it must be true.

COVID-19 is a less frightening name for the SARS-2 common cold virus.
SARS-1 appeared in the USA in 2003.
SARS-1 lasted one flu season, and as far as I know, there has never been another case diagnosed in the USA.
....Until a vaccine comes out.

If the “death rate” of Finland or Norway was extrapolated to the US population, it would “only” be about 12,000 deaths
The Denmark rate would be double, about 24,000 deaths

No surprise. The seasonal flu peaks up for awhile each year and from the start I fully expected so would the Wuhan Virus have its seasonal peaks. That means herd immunity is very important, and knowing that and expecting that is why Sweden’s approach has always been about the long run, not the panicky first year.
Thank you for your rational thoughts regarding this new disease.
We should be listening to providers who actually treat patients and observe clinical outcomes first hand, not some pencil pushing bureaucrat that hasn’t treated a patient in forever.

Let me translate my last post for you coach, this is what I am seeing in my Area:
A lot of folks in the South believe they are going to loose everything. They prefer to work then get $1200, and unemployment + 600.. They are very disappointed. They are turning on Trump back governors.
The Average Trump support believes this Virus is a Hoax now and not deadly at all. Did you hear Tucker Carlson opening last night. They are starting to doubt President Trump now. Not sure how this will effect this Fall election.
Will people who doubt the President show up to vote or not, if they are hurting financially?
Will they feel like the White House is lying to them in the Daily Virus Press briefings with the President and Vice President providing credibility by standing behind the briefers.?
If President Trump really believes the Virus is a real threat, he still needs to demand the country reopen and let the cards fall where they fall.
They don’t have Manhattans/NYCs.
Subways plus dense urban buildings with elevators = pandemic incubators and spreaders.
I wonder what those numbers will look like in a year. Today’s snapshot is only half the story.
They may not have had their wave of infection through the population. Their numbers may be off. They are much less densly populated than. the US. There may be other genetic and climatological factors. Despite what the fearpers are selling. You would think they would be embarrassed to show their face but uo they pop with new charts. At least they are not yelling a EXPONENTIAL anymore
