Why? When has an October surprise ever worked?

It didn't work against Reagan in 1980.

It didn't work against GWB in 2000.

It didn't work against Trump in 2016.

Without the October 2000 surprise (DUI for W), we’d never have heard of hanging chads. Gore would have lost decisively.
