During a crisis, state and local governments have the ability to make severe mandates in attempts to resolve the situation. The coronavirus crisis has plagued many states around the country, prompting some of them to engage in draconian measures they justify for the sake of public health. But the additional powers they have during emergencies must be tightly tailored, and former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker believes some have taken their lockdowns too far.

Speaking to Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, the many who bridged the gap between Jeff Sessions and William Barr said some of the measures being enacted by states and cities have been tantamount to martial law. He claimed the Department of Justice will not tolerate such actions, but so far we havent seen much push back DC.
Meanwhile, patriots across the nation have been engaging in civil disobedience to fight the lockdowns and get America back to work. With at least over 30 million Americans out of work and struggling to pay their bills, the push back from people is expected to rise even further in coming weeks unless the country is opened back up for business soon.
Emphasis has been placed by some conservative groups to highlight the defense of our 1st Amendment rights to free speech, peaceable assembly, and religious worship. All three constitutional rights have been suppressed in many areas around the country for the sake of stopping the coronavirus, even when proper use of face masks and social distancing are invoked.

Laudable sentiments...where were they six weeks ago?
ALREADY HAPPENING!
So, what? Barr’s gonna play the bagpipes at them?
Listen, Im worried that Whitmer is going to invade Poland.
Better late than never. Far to many “conservative” politicians and pundits are still hiding in the tall grass, especially at the state government level.
DOJ has been okey-dokey with treason. Why would martial law bother them?
The moment that a governor declares martial law is the moment that many of us have been waiting for.
Why declare anything when they’re getting Martial Law in everything but the name?
We are already under martial law, however, people are just using different words to describe the state we are in.
It is sort of like the word abortion. It is just a euphemism for murder to make it more digestible to the low information voters out there.

If the sheriffs deputies and local police cannot handle the civil rights protestors what are they going to do? Are they going to ask the governor to send in the National Guard or will they back down?
True

About time, but very late to the party.
Most cities and states failed the essential liberties test spectacularly.
Quite the Op. It’s not over yet either. 33% unemployment is going to be interesting.
However, cancelling Chinese debt as a form of damage compensation and essentially dissolving the Federal Reserve Bank (A private bank) might change the game a little.
During a press conference on Wednesday, California emergency room doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi of Accelerated Urgent Care told reporters that nationwide lockdown policies are not an appropriate reaction to what current data shows about the China-originated novel coronavirus but are instead causing measurable public health issues, like spikes in domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression, and spreading fear to non-COVID-19 related would-be patients that are skipping out on vital health care.
We understand microbiology, we understand immunology, and we want strong immune systems, Dr. Erickson told reporters, rebuffing inconsistent shelter-in-place orders . I dont want to stay in my home and develop a weak immune system, and then come out and get a disease.
Erickson noted that quarantining the healthy is like nothing hes seen before. We decided to keep people at home and isolate them, even though everything weve studied about quarantine, typically you quarantine the sick, he explained. When someone has measles you quarantine them. Weve never seen the healthy, where you take those without disease and without symptoms and lock them in your home. So, some of these things from what weve studied from immunology and microbiology arent really meshing with what we know as people of scientific minds who read this stuff.

You cannot *quarantine* healthy people.
You cannot *lockdown* healthy people.
The only word I found that fit our present situation is *internment*.
Thanks to HotHunt for the above great visual!
If people want to stay home, let them! NO ONE wants to force them to go out!
Easy - if you as a small business owner dont feel safe - dont open.*
Easy - If you as an individual dont feel safe with things opening up - dont go out.*

It is a federal felony to take away rights under the color of law. Start locking these dems up.
Unless POTUS declares martial law or takes control of commerce, we have all of our rights and everything is voluntary. The politicians have to ask us nicely to social distance, etc.
not true. The president has powers under the 1976 emergency act and each governor has emergency powers. The states have a few differences amongst them. No one needs you permission to curfew or keep people away from each other.
I suppose during the watts riots you opposed the curfew, blocking off south central al la and prohibiting people from driving into the area? You oppose restricting access to forest fire areas? There have been rights restrictions since the civil war. the government even took over industries like steel.
Agreed. We are currently in a soft version of Marshall law already. The legal system can’t enforce the ramifications of what’s happened and what’s coming.
