Nevada, like no other state, is totally dependent on tourism. If tourism dies, the state will die. The Democrat governor, Steve Sisolak, is doing his best to kill Nevada. Sisolak seems to be driven more by a lack of clear thinking rather than malicious intent.
Sisolak’s plan is to place most state residents under what amounts to house arrest. In order to discourage anyone from leaving their house he is attempting to make leaving home as unpleasant as possible. Parks are closed, or if that is impossible, at least the bathrooms are closed. He is even attempting to close the vast desert that surrounds Las Vegas, blocking off roads and trails. All businesses are required to close except for “essential” businesses like grocery stores. The schools are closed, making it difficult for parents to work because they have to care for their children.
The entire tourist industry has been shut down. The Las Vegas strip, usually crowded with tourists staying in some of the 150,000 hotel rooms, is completely deserted.
Tourism is the base of Nevada’s economy. Hundreds of thousands of tourist industry workers have been laid off. The state unemployment benefits office is apparently helpless in the face of the flood of applicants.
The governor sees this as a medical problem. It does not seem to bother him that destroying the Nevada economy will devastate the citizens of Nevada. Not only will they lose their jobs, they will also lose their savings and assets.
What exactly is the purpose of the house arrest? The disease is going to spread through the population until enough people are recovered and immune, so that herd immunity develops, and the virus fades away. That is the typical pattern for the spread of a new disease.

Only problem with your thoughts are that the regular flu counts have pretty much disappeared. Regular flu counts down and the chinese wuhan disease counts up!

I was brainstorming a while back and thought that could do th same for salad bars.
There have been so many documented cases of deaths attributed to the wu-flu that were actually caused by underlying conditions and in some cases the victims actually did not have covid19.
I have no doubt that many of the deaths were the result of plain old seasonal flu.
The CDC is corrupt. They have openly instructed medical personnel to report every possible death as caused by covid19.
I don't question for one minute that wu-flu is a very serious matter for those in the upper age groups. I am at the very top of that age group, but I will remind you that because of my age group I remember the Great Depression and I know enough about how different the economy was in those days compared to our present day economy to say this:
You have no idea what you are in for unless the mandatory house arrest laws are removed immediately.
You will wish you had died of the wu-flu.
As of 2 days ago almost 52k people had died of this virus in the US. Yea, I know...people dying in car crashed etc with the virus are getting counted. But to say this is all hype is just as ignorant as saying this is TEOTWAWKI.
And yes, people die of disease and cancer all the time. But this is NEW...remember when John Allen Muhammad (aged 41 at the time) and Lee Boyd Malvo (aged 17 at the time shot people at gas stations? What if we took the flubro approach there? "Oh, people get shot all the time...this is nothing and it's just 17 dead and 10 wounded anyway." Think of COVID19 as a new mass murderer killed an additional 10,000 as of early April...right...we would demand action.
AT THE SAME TIME, let's be reasonable. In some states and countries COVID19 is a disaster. But in Nevada, the adjusted fatality total is less than half of the nation's total. Indeed, she looks like Ohio and Germany. We also know the virus is really bad for the immunocompromised and older folks.
So, do a risk-based re-opening of the state and/or country. That's how we handle natural disasters. Get America working but respect the needs of the susceptible. It's not that hard.

The general consensus of his base is to get this nation back to work NOW. If Fauci/Birx had their way, the economy would not be opened up for months to come. Our economy would be in ruins. It will be in ruins in the space of 4 weeks if Trump doesn’t act really, really fast to get the American people back to work. Another Great Depression lurking in the background.
Better to open up the economy in one big bang, and let the liberal states (such as NY/CA, etc.) stay closed until the pressures on their leaders by their own State residents make it impossible for them to remain quarantined any longer. Besides, their States are losing a ton of tax revenue, and that’s one thing liberals are forever loathe to give up.
