Coronavirus is expected to crush New Yorks economy for years to come, according to a new report from the states budget office predicting a whopping $243 billion loss from the pandemic.
The sum is equal to 14 percent of the states gross domestic product and its loss is likely to usher in a wave of deep spending cuts, officials said.

they better issue some bonds.
And there have already been some rumblings among Democrat politicians, that federal aid to states should happen.
And I’m concerned because????
Oh well.
Time for NY to do some cutting.
New York State is a hellhole run by communists
look at New York City and its idiot mayor
No matter what any of the upstate Adirondack types say that stupid freaking island runs their entire state!
Aoc. Schumer. Hillary Clinton. Need a say more ?
Perhaps Trump’s plan is to leave those states with no choice but to cut back on welfare and socialism, and get rid of unproductive aliens?
You just gave me a thought that made me shudder. In normal times, the dems that control the schools constantly try to float bond issues or taxes, for the children. At least in Colorado, where I live, the voters have generally had the good sense to shoot most of these down, plus we at least have the Tabor Amendment that requires that tax increases or new taxes be brought before the voters for approval (though dems are constantly finding ways to do end runs around it, and keep plotting to gut it). Now though, I can envision constant pleas for money (again, for the children), which will simply be blamed on the coronavirus budget shortfall. Even if we get beyond the real shortfalls, its easy to predict that dems will never let it go as an excuse for their future panhandling.
P.S. - I still cant figure out why Colorado has turned so nauseatingly blue in recent years, yet still has a tendency to vote against most tax increases. Politically, its a strange place these days, and nothing like it was when I moved here in 1978. It could be that the locust swarm of California libs that have invaded us, while bringing their social liberalism with them, were stung enough by high taxes in California to at least be sensitive to new taxes after relocating here. Who knows?
NY sent covid patients back to nursing homes to infect others. They want the elderly to die.
The dems don’t control D38 in Monument and our “conservative” school board has tried twice in less than a year with responding rejection. It’s always for the children and how dare “we” the (new to the area with no understanding of the local history with the school board) parents have to have our poor little darlings in crowded schools (which aren’t at capacity) or in an older building. New construction is out of control with little to no infrastructure to support it all from a supposedly conservative town council. But you know the dem controlled state bodies will find a new and creative way to implement a new “fee” so it doesn’t have to go to the voters.
It’s been sad to see how much the state has changed, and not for the better. I can’t wait to see how Jared is going to try and balance the budget especially since sales tax collections has taken a nose dive. Nobody is in the mood for yet another ridiculous money raising scheme from the politicians in Denver. I predict CO will not return to its conservative roots until the entire state goes through pain like Pueblo
Start with sanctuary/social benefits to illegal aliens, university bloat, over-generous public pensions, idiotic "green" subsidies, lather, rinse, repeat.
Sounds like a winning plan to me.
Now add the Federal government along with the DOD Budget, what we talking about.

The decades of criminal inept rat rule has caused this rot before the virus

Those with loved ones who died should come together asa a group and go after cuomo. They are doing the same in italy
We had one of those school bond referendums last month and I’ll be damned if it didn’t pass! We are in an already outrageously high real estate tax area of northeastern Illinois...go figure.
Let’s see, NYS’s deficit, debt, and pension liabilities likely account for a huge chunk of that.
And that was BEFORE WuFlu.
The families can’t go after the facilities.
The new budget included a provision protecting nursing homes from both civil and criminal liability in WuFlu cases.
