Harvard University on Tuesday pushed back against President Trump's call for the institution to return funds it received from the $2.2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package, saying the money it accepted would go toward assisting students financially impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
The university emphasized in a statement that it received the money from a $14 billion fund established under the CARES Act, called the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, and not a separate program designed to help small businesses retain employees amid the pandemic.
Harvard did not apply for, nor has it received any funds through the U.S. Small Business Administrations Paycheck Protection Program for small businesses," Harvard spokesman Jonathan Swain said in a statement obtained by The Hill. "Reports saying otherwise are inaccurate."
"President Trump is right that it would not have been appropriate for our institution to receive funds that were designated for struggling small businesses," Swain continued.
Like most colleges and universities, Harvard has been allocated funds as part of the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Harvard has committed that 100% of these emergency higher education funds will be used to provide direct assistance to students facing urgent financial needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic," the spokesman said.

Harvard University Endowment: 40.9 billion USD
Return the money Harvard. Now.
How about they tax the endowment then Hahvad?
Harvard disgusts me.
How many of those students arent American and how do we know they or their parents didnt receive relief funds.
FU Harvard. Help those students with your endowment.
Notice they didn’t offer to reimburse tuition paid for classes, room, and board, but to help pay again for education denied.
Arrogant A-hoes.
Leave it to a bunch of Harvard brainiacs to miss the point. Of course, you’ll spend the money on assisting students hurt by the covid-19 crisis because the law requires it. What is offensive to everyone is that you’re sucking at the government teat for this money while sitting on a $40 billion endowment. Spend your own damn money.
How did they get the money?
Harvard.
“We have no lower limits to our depravity.”
How did they — and so many other massive corps and schools — get the f**king money in the first place???
You have to pass the bill to find out what’s inside it.
Harvard was founded by Christians.
All it puts out now is garbage. It is far more harmful to the nation than any good that comes out of there now.
