Expert Says U.S. is on the Brink of “Mass Civil Unrest”

An expert with the United States Studies Centre says that America is on the brink of “mass civil unrest” that threatens to emerge out of anti-lockdown protests now taking place nationwide.

Demonstrations against coronavirus stay-at-home measures have exploded across the country over the last week after President Trump encouraged them on social media. The National Guard has been called out in some areas to deal with potential disorder.

Speaking to Sky News Australia, James Brown, a former Australian Army officer who commanded a cavalry troop in southern Iraq, said that the very specific mentality of Americans made them much more likely to rebel against lockdown measures compared to citizens of other countries.

“There is that part of the US political psyche that takes rights to a complete extreme,” said Brown, adding that “mass civil unrest” is an ever present possibility due to Americans sharing a “deep independent streak that believes the government is a nice-to-have not a must-have.”

I disagree. The media scum who believe they are the chosen ones whose jobs are to guide and persuade Americans to do what these media scum prefer.

Who elected them to their lofty positions?

The scumbags in the media should be the very first ones swinging from Lamp Posts and sufficiently tall trees, IMO.

“Experts” with no name and no citation of specific scholarly work on the subject = fabrications.

Oppressive government is not a “must have”.

I think he has it just about right. “Mass civil unrest” does not have to mean a shooting war, but it does mean citizens asserting their will.

Read the article, it is very short, so most FReepers can handle it.

Exactly.

There is quite some difference between a few hundred cars blocking traffic around the State House....

And 620,000 Dead Americans a la the Civil War.

The 4th largest metro area in Washington State just deemed to extension of the Stay at Home order unconstitutional and will no longer enforce Gov’s actions.

This is a big deal.

Yeah we like to call it FREEDOM.

**************

The sheeple have forgotten what freedom is. Our Founding Fathers would be flabbergasted by the trampling of our rights and the crap we put up with in this country.

We used to the the Land of the Free. Now we’re just the Land of the Freebie.

Had an unfortunate encounter with one of Gov. Wolf’s sheeple outside of Home Depot yesterday. She objected vociferously to my reference to Wolf as “Tommie the Commie” with a number of “F bombs.” I applied my “So, you want to be treated just like a man, huh?” philosophy and, as it turns out, she really doesn’t want to be treated like a man. Go figure...

In the IT industry, I tell the foreign workers who sometimes ask me questions that in the USA, we are ‘citizens’. In just about all other countries, they are ‘subjects’.

I explain to them that they are the primary protector of their families, neighborhoods, villages, towns, cities, counties, and states. They have a MORAL responsibility to fight tyranny even if it puts them at risk.

This is alien to non-Americans.

It is, but I hope to see MORE of this as this silly 100% shutdown in some states is foolishly carried on.

He's not all wrong.

Yes he is correct on this point, even though he apparently thinks he is insulting us.

There is nothing "extreme" about refusing to have one's liberties confiscated. Independent streak? Hell yes.

Government is indeed a nice-to-have not a must-have - and many times it is NOT nice to have either.

Sounds pretty spot-on to me: “...deep independent streak that believes the government is a nice-to-have not a must-have.”
