So if the hockey stick models were right we should be waist deep in corpses.

I live in Long Island and I do think I had the virus.

Never was tested, but I was sick for a few days the last week of February.

Mild fever, sore throat, runny nose.

I want to get the antibody test to know for sure.

well in that case my 41 first cousins, 20 aunts and uncles, 20 good friends and everyone they know have been lucky enough not to get symptoms because no one I know has even had a sniffle. That’s got to be close to several thousand people. All of my cousins have kids and they and their kids have friends. all of my friends have kids and parents and friends and nobody knows anybody that has been sick.

not only with the virus. I cannot say I know of a person that has told me they have a cold

the manifest, manifold failures in the virus saga are legion, but the biggest black eye probably belongs to big data.

Noo Yawkers = those who live in or very close by NYC?

What about the rest of the State that “he was never very great” Cuomo ignores?

The the article the Daily mail is talking about: "Study suggests California has 10 times more coronavirus cases than reported. Local experts disagree"

"“Sounds like a massive stretch to me,” said George Rutherford, a professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the UCSF School of Medicine. “I’m highly, highly skeptical.”

The 1918 flu took two years. U.S. Swine Flu was from April 2009 to August 10, 2010. It seems unlike that a virus from the same family as SARs could spread so fast. If it did, it would be likely that earlier SARs outbreaks would have already spread as fast and caused as much trouble already.

If true, this is GREAT news. It could mean two things:

1. The case/fatality rate is a small fraction of what it seemed to be before any good data was available.

2. We're much closer to achieving herd immunity than anyone thought. With sufficient herd immunity, this virus will die out.

The bigger the denominator the less deadly it is. Something they don’t want to acknowledge. Less deadly than seasonal flu or a cold?

The media and the Democrats have to get the economy completely crashed before everyone finds out about the BIG LIE and turns on them (you can imagine what would happen to them without anyone saying anything). If they can get the economy to collapse before everyone turns on them, then the masses will turn on each other and forget the folks who instigated all of this. They took a go for broke risk. Bookmark this.

RE: California has 10 times more coronavirus cases than reported - and HALF of all New Yorkers are infected, pair of scientists claim

That means the DENOMINATOR is large. If the numerator ( despite NY’s attempts at manipulating the numbers ) is not as large as they make it to be, then the MORTALITY RATE is actually much smaller than we realize. That is, if the title of this thread is correct.

I have heard the figure of 3%-5% of the total population of the USA infected from several doctors in the past, so this this new # comes in within this range. If truly at 4.8% then that makes the WuFlu/COVID-19 about 28% deadlier than a “bad regular flu” year (2017-2018 reg. flu season —> 61K fatalities, 45 million infected = 0.136% fatality rate) (WuFu/COVID —> 28,529 fatalities to date, 16,368,000 infected {4.8% of 341 million} = 0.174% fatality rate).

BULLSHIT! I live in California. I don't know anyone that knows anyone with the Virus.

My neighbor is a nurse. She says the wards are practically empty...including emergency.

The local Sheriff said he's not going to enforce any shelter in laws.

Stop posting this kind of tripe. It does no good for anyone.

I’d really like to believe this is the case, and that herd immunity is the mechanism that will put the brakes on the outbreak.
But I just got off a videoconference with my 57 year-old infected cousin, and he is 7 days into getting his ass kicked by this. He spent Easter hallucinating.
Perhaps some of us, particularly the young, brush this off. The people I know who have it or are recovering all say this is unlike anything that ever happened to them before.
I don’t think there’s a chance in hell 50% of New Yorkers have it.

“A pair of scientists...”

So if you can get two scientist to say anything, you can obviously take that as gospel... Because they all know what they’re doing... Right?

Like the scientist from WHO that said this virus wasn’t infectious... Or said it was fine to fly... And said face mask and face coverings aren’t needed... We can always trust scientist because they’re always right... Like they’re right about global warming.
