Agree with you, I believe the net rationale for Jared and Ivanka being on this panel is the advice that they have given Trump in the past. We do not know how much he trusts them, but I would bet it is pretty high.
Both have been with him since before the election, so there is a history of trust that has to be understood.
Both represent the younger generation who are intimately involved with the decision of going back to work. (People in my age category are intimately involved with staying safe but we miss out friends and our dining out.)

Jared is quiet and never, ever leaks. He gets stuff done.
I like Don, Jr, but he is the ‘mouth’, advocating for his father’s policies. Eric is the numbers guy who keeps the family business afloat. Jared is a diplomat who seems to not even want credit, let alone the spotlight.
Jared and Ivanka are, like Don Sr, people with compassion and a heart. They just do their jobs, despite the constant sniping from the ever-shrinking prog contingent.
If Ivanka and Jared were prog moles, why do the lying media snipe at them constantly? Answer: they simply hope to get to Donald through his kids. Look at how social media characterizes Ivanka and Jared as Barbie and Ken. Yeah, Barbie and Ken with 2-3 (can’t recall) kids and two high pressure, no-salary jobs.
Was Jared’s father someone who played fast and loose? Yes. If Jared did, the SDNY would have indicted him years ago. OTOH, it is his father’s connections, which now seem to also be Jared’s, that allow Jared to be effective. Jared seems to be able to utilize Donald’s network of Sephardi Jewish entrepreneurs and that network must extend back to Syria, which, for many of them, is The Old Country.
DJT is not a conservative. I’ve always seen him as Harry S. Truman, another businessman President who had to make a difficult wartime decision and whom the press hated, even though he was a D. Harry said, “I tell them the truth and they think it’s hell.” Just like The Donald.
People need to watch Ivanka and Jared and do some research. They are competent. And mostly silent.
