Very supportive. Always can come down to SW Florida where we are. However, it’s going to be an economic disaster in this area (mostly retirees and snow birds). Nothing but tourism and service industry jobs here. So sad that our generation’s children and grandchildren have to have their lives turned upside down.

What is the danger is the contagious nature of COVID-19 with a R-not of 2-3 which is reflective in its exponential growth rate. This potential gives it a high potential for huge death totals. You do know the danger of Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) don't you? What is the potential for getting to this stage of the infection for those who are infected? So, if you do get ARDS, you know the treatment requires the use of a ventilator.
Knowing the exponential potential of COVID-19's growth rate, how many ventilators do we have before we run out? What do we do for those who can't be treated with a ventilator? Are we going to play the Wheel of Fortune for those who get ventilators and let the rest drown in their fluids?
One final thought: You know the potential for death is the highest for those in the upper age categories. Those who belong to these catagories are those who have the highest development of their expertise in their profession. Those are great music conductors, artists, doctors, scientist, etc. What happens to society if these people are gone in great numbers? Buy a vowel?
The Chinese are NOT the only ones lying. The official US statistics on COVID-19 deaths are inflated (as a meter of policy?), but hard to say by how much.
All current deaths are being called COVID-19 regardless of whether there were severe pre-existing underlying illnesses, and whether there is any pre- or postmortem testing to confirm COVID-19.
BUT even worse, some reported deaths are patently false.
At a funeral home in a small town in East Texas, my friend has seen three deaths recently which he is certain were misstated.
One was at an assisted living home where his mother was a resident until she recently passed. He has been visiting there for the last couple of years. He got to know an elderly guy there who had very severe COPD, and had a few crises. He finally passed two weeks ago, and was listed as COVID-19. But as far as he knows, this home hasn’t had -—anyone-— diagnosed with it yet. And he is in touch with this community service and would likely know - he is at the funeral home after all.
But the most egregious??? One death was clearly an automobile accident, from the extensive trauma, typical of a car wreck.
The other was a gunshot victim.
Both deaths were COVID-19 on the paperwork.

I have seen one report which said that, based on age and underlying illnesses, about half of those over 80 who pass from alleged COVID-19, would have passed away within a year in any event. This segment, with serious underlying illnesses, is very fragile.
Exactly. Since COVID-19 has a R-not of 2-3, it has a serious potential for exponential growth. We would be playing a dangerous game of Wheel of Fortune if we allowed the Herd Strategy to play. We are learning from other countries who are trying it. The UK tried it and soon saw its terrible results. It even caught PM Boris Johnson. Sweden is just finding out, as they are letting their contagion manifest itself into disastrous results using the Herd Strategy. Once you let the virus put the nitro into the race, it is hard to put on the breaks.
On final thought: Since the virus affects more in the upper age groups, can society afford to let them go in the huge numbers that will die? Gone will be our great music conductors, artists, doctors, scientist, etc. I bet any one of us would be lost if something happened to our shoes.

A really sinister development is the media is now pushing "which virus European or Chinese?" BS. They never say it was Chinese all the way at the start. They say a second type was "from" Europe (but NEVER say how Europe got it suddenly----from China!).
Obviously the Chinese went from Wuhan to Europe (especially their second home the Chinese textile region of northern Italy where many Chinese took over local industries and now live there and spread this virus.). This propaganda could have been written in Beijing.
