This Is Strange: Total US Deaths in March 2020 are Actually Down 15% from Average of Prior Four Years

Grassfire reports:

"According to data obtained from the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Surveillance System website, total U.S. deaths for the first three weeks of March are DOWN 10% from the average of the prior four years for the same three week period.

The average for weeks 9 through 11 for the four prior years was a total of 170,555 deaths. For weeks 9 through 11 this year, the total is 153,015, meaning 17,540 fewer people died in America during the first three weeks of March than could be reasonably expected. And the gap between historic deaths and weekly deaths is widening. For week 11, just 47,655 Americans died, 8,773 and 15% fewer than the average for week 11 in the prior four years. And while data on week 12 is not complete, it is trending similar to week 11 and will likely be down by 15% (around 8,700 deaths less than expected) even though 1,919 COVID-19 deaths were reported (in week beginning 3/22)."

Now after deaths for the entire month of March are reported, the results show that deaths in the US this March are 15% less than the average of the past four years!

Nobody driving. Not too many work related injuries. Not a lot of people drowning, dropping dead while exercising, biking, sport related deaths...

You just can’t have too much go wrong if all you do is loaf about the house.

Jail may not be good enough. We can still injure ourselves there. I suggest our glorious masters put us all in straight jackets in a padded room.

And if they’re not going to hospital no deaths from medical errors, either...

Non-emergency medical treatments all suspended so no one is dying of anesthesia mistakes or post-op infections.

So...you fall in the category of blaming Trump. Good to know....

WTF are you talking about? You seriously misunderstood my post if that is your conclusion.

Someone is going to write a story about how Trump is ruining the mortuary industry throughout America.

That means only the last week of March were the bars closed.

True, but 9 days of of 31 IS 29% of the month.

So, let me explain it to you...

The reason I asked, "Is Trump still president?", is because I believe that the left will do everything they can to keep this all going for as long as possible, if they believe it hurts Trump.

Thanks for replying to my post.

As you can imagine, I take the misconduct of today’s journalists very, very personally.

Thank God I’m retired.

When I got into the biz in 1983, there were still old school editors who only cared that I got my facts straight and my copy in on time.

It got worse over the years, but my early retirement had a lot more to do with having to take care of an ailing parent than the increasingly toxic newsroom politics.

Yes indeed, we need to be protected from ourselves! No communist plot could have damaged this nation the way this lockdown has!

I looked and found that the taking clause is dead along with due process. And freedom to, well, have freedom. And freedom of assembly and that freedom to worship stuff. All dead...

Well, I guess my comment could be misinterpreted pretty easily, so not entirely your fault!

I understand and empathize, FRiend.

It’d be interesting (but too late) to know if I’d had that ‘bumper sticker’ printed up all those years ago, how many it would’ve sold.
But adding the ‘excluding most small town papers’ qualifier would’ve taken a bit of the punch out of it .. ha!

That 1945 addendum is mainly based on ‘big media’s’ unconscionable savaging of Whittaker Chambers and Joe McCarthy, though more than likely pre-dates even them by a long shot.
