Grassfire reports:
"According to data obtained from the CDCs National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Surveillance System website, total U.S. deaths for the first three weeks of March are DOWN 10% from the average of the prior four years for the same three week period.
The average for weeks 9 through 11 for the four prior years was a total of 170,555 deaths. For weeks 9 through 11 this year, the total is 153,015, meaning 17,540 fewer people died in America during the first three weeks of March than could be reasonably expected. And the gap between historic deaths and weekly deaths is widening. For week 11, just 47,655 Americans died, 8,773 and 15% fewer than the average for week 11 in the prior four years. And while data on week 12 is not complete, it is trending similar to week 11 and will likely be down by 15% (around 8,700 deaths less than expected) even though 1,919 COVID-19 deaths were reported (in week beginning 3/22)."
Now after deaths for the entire month of March are reported, the results show that deaths in the US this March are 15% less than the average of the past four years!

You have been here since 98...and this is your first post???
Less deaths and what ??? There’s been an INCREASE in gun sales ?
Cricket concert in progress.
See? Introverts are objectively right.
Yep no more chipotle related deaths.
And the sharks should be afraid of HIM.
The headline says March 2020 but the data is only through March 21 and the total number of covid deaths through March 21st was 302. The big increase has been since then.

Good to know....

Besides fewer accidents, am betting fewer flu deaths. Wish they would put those stats alongside the CV stats.
During “social distancing” (quarantine), everything is going down.
To include murder, accidents etc. Surgeries gone wrong. Any number of other death causes.
I contend total deaths is not a good measure for this plague under these circumstances.
I’ve lost 10 pounds since Feb 4th without really trying.
I think now because I’m working from home, I can get my hour walk daily now, and also no more eating out at restaurants (I normally do, often—not fast food but sill restaurants).
I haven’t left my house by car since March 13th.
No social interaction, so no hostile confrontations resulting in someone getting killed.
Criminals who might normally blend into the crowd no longer have crowds to blend into.

There were 15% less deaths in March, this year versus the previous 4 years.
So is the CV saving lives?
Just think how many deaths would be prevented if we were all put in jail!
Would imagine that highway deaths are down considerably, but also, while COVID-19 is not a regular flu, it is in some ways this winter’s flu substitute, so whatever was going to be the regular flu is being equally suppressed (inadvertently) by the social distancing, and perhaps it was a weaker strain than past years, for example, winter 2017-18 had quite a large death toll from that winter’s flu.
None of this logically says abandon the campaign, although I think we are close to the point where a phase two of more specific targetting (mostly in care homes) should be undertaken and the wider restrictions eased then dropped.
While it is easy for the media to find clusters of mortality caused by the pandemic, it is impossible to demonstrate who survived because of the other factors in play, as in, who wasn’t in the wrong place at the wrong time on the highway or during some criminal activity, or who didn’t get the seasonal flu. Those whose lives were prolonged by this will never realize it, if in fact there would be any way to identify who they were.
Would that be a deathficit?
Shhh..you will scare whoever it is away. It will be another 22 years before they post again.
