White House trade adviser Peter Navarro Monday confirmed reports of a heated argument between himself and Dr. Anthony Fauci over the weekend concerning the use of hydroxychloroquine while continuing to push for the use of the drug in the fight against COVID-19.
"If we didn't have disagreement or debate in the Trump administration, this administration would not be as strong as it is," Navarro told CNN's "New Day" host John Berman. He also confirmed the argument in a separate Fox News interview.
"Let me focus on the issue at hand," Navarro told Berman. "Does hydroxychloroquine work? That was the subject in the task force meeting this Saturday."
At the end of the day, FEMA has 29 million tablets of the drug in a warehouse, and the White House task force agreed unanimously that FEMA would start surging them into the nation's "hot zones."
Navarro added that in the New York hospitals' system, "virtually every patient" with COVID-19 symptoms is given a cycle of hydroxychloroquine.
Navarro had brought several studies to the meeting, reports Axios, but Fauci argued that they contained anecdotal, not scientific evidence.
"There are now numerous scientific studies that indicate potential efficacy," Navarro argued on Monday, adding that he'd let Fauci speak for himself, "but I'll have two words for you. Second opinion."
"What are your qualifications to weigh in on medicines more than Dr. Anthony Fauci?" Berman replied. "Why should we listen to you and not Dr. Fauci?"
Navarro suggested that CNN bring in other doctors who can speak more about the benefits of the drug, but that his own qualifications are that he is a "social scientist" with a PhD and he understands "how to read statistical studies."

Amen. If Trump were not POTUS all of the armies of bureaucrats who think like Fauci would just go on being Fauci. They’d rotely follow the safest path to their own pension/career/reputation preservation and many Americans would die as a result. Trump keeping his foot up their asses 24/7 has saved us from many horrible things.
Anybody know of any existing studies involving other viruses and hydroxychloroquine? They would be quite relevant I think.

I wonder if the day will come when Dr. Fauci realizes that he has been responsible for the needless death of tens of thousands and, if that day comes, will he care. My wife, who is in the ultra high risk category of age and chronic lung infection, asked her rheumatologist today if she would give her hydroxychloroquine if my wife showed signs of COVID-19. Her doctor said that she wouldn’t, because her lupus patients needed it.

How is Tied to Dr. Fauci?
It is really really hard to move forward and think out of the box when you have someone like Fauci in the room. They are gunning for you if you go against them and you know it all the time. It is a horrible place to be as a leader.
While you want opposing views you also want things settled when you make a decision. With a Fauci around things are never settled unless they are going his way.
Personally I can’t handle the type. Un conditions when I was trying to push the ball down the field I took them out and asked them to go find something else to do or made them a special project doing something in the far outer reaches Slabovia where their special skills could be put to full advantage.
