Premier infuriated by Trump, says Canada helped US amid 9/11
AP ^ | 04 05 2020 | ROB GILLIES

Posted on 04/06/2020 7:43:07 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

The premier of a Canadian province that sheltered thousands of stranded American airline passengers after the 9/11 attacks questioned the humanity of U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday after Trump banned the export of N95 protective masks to Canada.

The conservative leader of another province compared it to one family member feasting while letting another one starve. And yet another premier said it reminded him of 1939 and 1940, when Canada was part of the fight against global fascism while the United States sat out the first years.

Canadians across the country expressed hurt and disappointment that their neighbor and longstanding ally is blocking shipments of the masks from the United States to ensure they are available in the U.S. during the coronavirus pandemic. Canadian health care workers — like those in the U.S. — are in dire need of the masks that provide more protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.

Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball said one of the great lessons in humanity is that in times of crisis you don’t stop being human.

“To say that I’m infuriated by the recent actions of President Trump of the United States is an understatement,” Ball said. “I cannot believe for a second that in a time of crisis that President Trump would even think about banning key medical supplies to Canada.”

What I would like to know is:

In the past, where did Canada buy their masks from?

If Canada bought their masks from 3M, then I believe President Trump should allow 3M to sell them the same number of masks now.

However, if Canada bought their masks from China in the past, then President Trump has every right to prohibit 3M from selling their masks to Canada...my opinion.

For the most part Canada’s healthcare system really sucks. You wait and wait and wait for an appointment for an MRI you name it waiting times are ridiculous so except when it comes to abortions. Those are top priority around here.

But when push comes to shove doctors are there. When my daughter was 18 months old she had ear infection after ear infection. I had to drive her to the hospital in northern Quebec took me about 30 minutes. A bunch of us were waiting I’m waiting in the crowd no one was had been called for at least 2 hours maybe more. I want up to the receptionist and I said what is going on? She said the doctor is having his dinner. I said what?! are you telling me that in this entire hospital there is not one of the doctor that can be see these people? Then I turned around to the crowd and I said are you going to put up with this? This is absurd people. This was of course in my crappy French. Needless to say oh, my daughter was seen with about within 15 minutes. And the line started moving.

Canadians are basically sheep I’m sorry but they are. Americans on the other hand get things done. That’s just who we are. We decide to settle the West we did we decide to find gold in the mountains we did we decide to slaughter the Indians we did LOL. I’m sorry that’s not really funny.

I told my children my daughter 20, and my son 24, that they are probably two of the most fortunate people on the planet. They were born in the United States, in Denver. And they’re Canadian from their father. I told them you guys can live and work pretty much anywhere you want. I’m not sure if they really understand just how fortunate they are. But what is good is that they’re old enough to remember what it was like pre coronavirus young enough to experience the whole coronavirus plague, and young enough to see what the world will be like.
I think it would be a very different world the entertainment industry is dead. Who is going to want to sit right next to a stranger to watch a play a ballet an orchestral performance no one. Hotels and airplanes as well. People are not going to want to travel. Life will be very very different

U.S. deaths from coronavirus = 9667 (as of 4-6-20, am, Bing)
Canada deaths from coronavirus = 293 (same source and time).

Yeah, we’re “feasting” on death while they starve.

I know Judy. I’m originally from Chicago but I married a guy from Quebec and we had to move up here. Every one hates Donald Trump. People around me know that I voted for him very happily and they’re not mad. I’m not shunned
But they really hate Donald Trump.

What part of “shortage” don’t they get? I would also understand if Canada did the same if the situation was reversed.

Liberals love to take facts and twists the reasons they are true. Answer the question why Canada was part of the fight? Hint, it has something to do with their relationship with Britain. And then ask answer the question my progress news outlet report such garbage without context so low-information voters understand?

Have you seen the musical Come from Away?

See the musical and you will come to your senses and see that we should help Canada with N95 masks.

Now, Latin America is another story. No masks (or minimal masks) to them.

Canada and the US are siblings. We need to take care of each other. that’s just my two cents I realized everyone’s going to disagree with me

Where's Justin?

Thank goodness Canadians pay half their paychecks to have socialized medicine to be rationed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Now, during a pandemic, there should be plenty of medical supplies, right?

Here’s one article that shows what Canada contributes to the production line for the masks that we all need.

Didn’t Canada send a lot of protective stuff to China in January? Trump said on a Task Force press conference on Friday or Saturday that we would continue sending protective garb to Canada and Mexico when he was asked by a reporter about what he did to 3M.
I saw on a Southpark movie that the Canadian’s heads are shaped differently. Their heads fully detach from their face about where their mouths would be. Wouldn’t that take a special n95 mask? I don’t know how to post pictures but if someone could post a Southpark version of a Canadian I would appreciate it.

Canadians are the biggest bunch of SHEEP in the world. They believe ANYTHING the “elite” tells them. I’ll give you an example:

I know of high-school teacher (female, early 30s) and we were talking about this whole notion of “transgenderism”. She is supposedly a Christian, but she goes along with this nonsense....being a teacher, she pretty much has to at least humor them or she loses her job.

She told me that the Ministry of Education informed them that 1 in 10 children are actually born hermaphrodite (with both sex organs) and that the doctors quickly whisk them away, perform a quick surgery to remove one of the organs, and bring them back to the mother, none the wiser. I was stunned, and asked her if she actually believed that and she did. That’s how stupid many Canadians are.

3M has offices and warehousing in Canada. They are an important part of our regular supply chain. The special pulp that is needed to produce the masks is produced in Canada and shipped to 3M and Honeywell in the US and then turned into masks and gowns. The masks in question are part of our regular supply chain with a promised delivery date. Now it’s one more thing to solve during a difficult time.

If lots of nurses are crossing into the US to work, that tells me the crisis is worse here than it is in Canada. Ergo, we need the masks more than they do.

Canada isn’t releasing its infection numbers to the public, so its hard to tell what level of concern there should be.

If thousands of nurses are crossing over into the US to work, it sounds like they don't have any serious crisis in Canada.

Thanks for the info!

3M should provide that info to the WH and President Trump should allow the finished products to be exported to Canada.

Seems to me that this would be an excellent opportunity for the U.S. and Canada to work together. Canada could increase output of the special pulp and 3M and Honeywell could increase output of the masks. The increased output could be equitably shared between Canada and the U.S.
